gmp
So I am using 4794 to make clamshell tarts. I decided not to add any container wax just b/c I didn't want the fuss and I like that the tarts pop out of the warmer easier with straight 4794. But now I'm finding that the tarts are hard to get out of the clamshells. Do you all think this is okay or should I be adding a soft wax to help the tarts pop out of the clamshells easier? Thanks for any and all feedback!!
justrightcandles
Really? I use 4794 and it is not hard to pop out. What is it doing? sticking to the clamshell?
homecomfort
I've found that pouring temp has an impact on how easy or difficult the wax is to pop out. Pouring cooler has produced better results for me, ~160 or less seems to be the best so far.Something you might want to try
gmp
You know, I think I did pour a bit on the hot side, I thought it would be okay. I will "try try again"! Many thanks!!
Tess
4794 is an "easy release" wax. It certainly sounds like your pour temp. I believe 4794 recommends to pour at 170 or so, but when pouring into clamshells I find pouring at about 155 produces the best results (with any wax aside from container waxes) without wrinkling your clamshell.
