rae_g
I've been testing votives for what feels like my entire life. Smaller wicks like CD 7 and 8 work great in smaller containers, but they drown out immediately in a larger cup. So I'm trying 10, 12, and even 14 and the 10 and 12 are drowning out as soon as the MP overflows too. There are only a few FOs that are working in a 12 and none in a 10. A 14 seems so big to use in a votive, especially in what feels like would need to be the majority of my votives. But I know that my customers will NOT burn in just a tightly fitting cup, so I want something that will work in a larger votive container too.Anyone else gone through this? Is a CD-14 crazy big to use in most of my votives? I use Ecosoya PB with UV inhibitor, 1 oz FO PP, and no dyes.
Judy, USMC
I use Ecosoya too. But since a votive is sold like a pillar but burned in a container I've made a blend of 75% pillar (PB) and 25% container (I use CB-135).Try testing your wicks with this wax mixture. Never tried the CD's yet so can't help you there. Whatever the size of the votive - you need to wick for the diameter of the holder. The absolute largest container I recommend to my buyers is 1 7/8 inch inside diameter. I say 1 7/8 knowing some will bump up to 2 inches - and that's OK. But if I say 2 they may think they could go even larger!HTH
chrisasst
I use htp 83 in my votives ( also use Ecosoya PB) try those and see..
Violetsexoticcandles
I use CD12's with my votives. I've tested 14, but it was too hot. Sometimes even my 12's can get too hot, as well. But they work for the most part. I don't use your wax, though- I use V-1, which has its own issues! Good luck!
