Godiva
I'm searching to see if there's a guideline on what temperature the outside of glass containers should be within to be considered safe. I'm double wicking 4 inch jars with CDN's and parasoy blend (mostly soy). Tried searching, couldn't find the right thread, figured there is probably one out there, just not wording it correctly. If anyone knows, would appreciate the link. Also, how do you get the temperature of glass?
ChrisR
There isn't such a guideline that I've ever seen over the years. My rule of thumb is you should be able to safely touch the sides of the jar without burning yourself.
Stella1952
A CDN 18-20 should be able to handle a 4" jar without double wicking. IMHO, for a container, it is more trouble than it is worth to doublewick. More heat, more chance of sooting, more difficulty in burning evenly, etc.
