chrisasst
before I started making candles and knew anything I always burned votives ob a plate..I have read since votives should be burned in a tight container...what do you burn them in? what gets the best results? melissa1955
The straight sided votive holders from Michaels or Wally World are what i use...anything that the candle fits snugly into (that is heat safe) will work as long as there isn't room for the wax to run down the side of the candle.HTHMelissa
Laura
a votive should be burned in a snug holder, so the melt pool won't run down the sides...you want it to liquify as it burns down. you won't get much burn time if it's on a plate or in a holder that's too big. SatinDucky
Think of a votive as a small replaceable container candle. Even though they look similar to a pillar, they should be burned like a container. You should have a visible melt pool at the top. Burning like a pillar is just a waste of wax. It melts down all over the place and goes out. Any candle (pillar, container, votive, etc.) should burn up most all the wax as fuel until it gets close to the bottom.
