traceyy
So yesterday I was attempting to make some soap. While my lye and oils were cooling I accidentally knocked the bowl with my oils over. So cleaned up that mess but I ran out of pko. So now I am on a soap hold until it gets here tomorrow. I still have my lye water. I dont want it sitting here because I ahve kids and am deathly afraid of it sitting here. Can I pour it down the drain? How can I dispose of it? dpowell
If it is just a lye water solution you should be fine pouring it down the drain - should actually clean the pipes a bit. Lye is used as a drain cleaner.
CareBear
Yup, pour it carefully down the drain and follow with lots and lots of cold water. Be careful as the lye sol'n can get very hot as it enters the drain or contacts more water - watch out for any steam or splattering. You probably won't get any, but I suggest gloves and keep your face away from the drain.
