topofmurrayhill
Everything does. Mushrooming is when stuff is going up the wick and accumulating at the tip instead of completely burning off. It's affected by the type of wax, the type of fragrance oil, the amount of fragrance oil, the type of wick, and the size of the wick (too large or too small). So basically you have to play around and see what helps in your particular case. You might want to start by seeing how the wick size affects it and also see if lowing the amount of fragrance oil helps. Maybe then try a different type of wick if necessary. Certain waxes can be especially prone to it, which can make it difficult to solve.People differ in how much they worry about it. As far as improving your candle, it's totally up to you what you want to put your mind to. If you really get a lot of mushrooming you should probably try to do something about it.
