I'm a graphic designer - just a beginner candle maker. Even though you're a while from getting your site up, it will be hard to design/organize without knowing what products you can make and cannot make - ie sell or will not sell. If you've not made candles before and you're just looking for a template type design - which I guess is about all you can do without having any content at all - you can place just about any graphic in there to see how it looks. As long as you're not publishing it and no one is seeing it but you, you can take a graphic from anywhere and put it on there for placement. Try gettyimages.com.

I have a general idea of what I want to sell when I first get the site going. Only a few products at first though as I will need to perfect them. still new to this, and I want to make quality product. Have read tons and tons of info, but i am sure when i actually start making them, it will still be a huge learning process. I just get ancy when it comes to things, and just wanted to get my site designed, and a test page up. lol, kinda funny i know. I am very much looking forward to getting things going.:D

There are SO MANY candle websites on the www now and I would not start by selling on the web. After I had already been making candles for several years, I put up a website just for the benefit of previous customers. I get very few orders from strangers. Learn to make a good candle first and build up a decent business and then determine if you need a website. IMHO Carole

I don't have any guidance to give you. I just wanted to chime in and say that you're doing a great job by thinking about the "visual" in advance... everything will come into fruition as long as you have a plan! :D

Please keep us posted! :highfive:

I designed my own site and make my own candles and agree with the person that said build a local customer base first. I used to have a physical shop years back and assumed that when I went virtual it would be a piece of cake. Not being one strong in common sense and what folks refer to as the "obvious", it kind of bypassed me that no matter how great and visual the site, for some crazy reason people want to smell them before the buy lololol...

Second, taking your own pictures and having them look professional was something I did not have the time nor patience for so I went a different route and try to portray the 'scent' via an atmospheric visual pic. Click my banner to see what I mean.

Just a suggestion! As for royalty free pics, try

Read their rules. Some are wide open and some require an acknowledgment...

best of blessings to you!
