Need help with plastic bottles/packaging...

Do any of you know if it would be ok to use HDPE bottles for bath oil with fo's, maybe eo's? I saw some really nice black HDPE bottles on sale that I'd like to use to make VD gifts for all the sweet men in my life. Also, does anyone know of a kind of list with guidelines as to what type of plastic is good/not good for certain things? I searched the archives, but found nothing about the different kinds of plastic.

I know PETE is great for nearly everything, but hubby's pockets are a little thin & I'm trying to be considerate so he won't start squawking about funding my new addiction!

My mom has been selling AVON for 34 years now and I checked one of the bottles of SSS Bath Oil and it is an HDPE bottle.
