Margaritamama
What causes candle bulge, and how do you prevent it? Hugging????
Henryk
I get this with 1343 - I usually just keep it hugged in. I want to try some of the additives that Eugenia and DanaE are doing at http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2360 and http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3105 but just haven't had the time with multiple things I'm trying to get perfect (I'm sure you know what that is like!).These are great threads to read for this problem. RobinInOR
Those are great threads, I missed them before. I've only done 1343 in 2" pillars, so I've never seen the bulge before. Though I can see how it would happen - 1343 is almost like taffy when it's warm - you can stretch it into all sorts of shapes - it doesn't break. Margaritamama
Thanks! Yes those are great threads.... Fortunately, my bulge was not quite as bad, and I've been hugging periodically when I see it start to bulge out. I tend to burn my candles a lot - maybe 5 hours at a time. I'm thinking that maybe I should rotate them a little and only burn 2 or 3 hours at a time. I'm using 4625, but perhaps next time I order I'll try the 1343 with the additives recommended.
