Kelly
8oz JJ's, Eco 8's, various FO's (example hollyberry), is it normal for the flame to get weaker as I get to the end of the candle? I would have thought it would get stronger since the jars are slightly tapered. For 90% of the candle the flame was fine, now it's getting weak when I'm at about 1/2" wax. Maybe I've invented the self extinguishing candle so people don't burn to the bottom!Kelly

Kelly
Wow no one has any thoughts on this? I must have a really strange problem.
Scent Cellar
My thought is that near the bottom of the container there is less air flowing and results in a smaller flame.
Pam W
OR some unincorporated FO settled to the bottom of the jar after pouring making it just to much for the wick to handle.
Kelly
Oh hmmm, how can one avoid the un-incorporating FO issue?
Pam W
stir & stir & stir...just not so hard that you whip air into the wax. You can also pour part of your container then give another quick stir & pour the rest.
Stella1952
I agree with the reduced amount of O2 at the bottom of a container, particularly a tall one as opposed to fat, squat. At the end of a candle, there are bound to be contaminants, not only from the surface of the candle, but from what settled to the bottom when it was poured. This stuff can clog the wick. Vegetable waxes supposedly have some acidic components which can also contribute to wick clogging...
