Is there a trick to Dan's Bands???

I have both the regular bands and dan's. I am having trouble with the edges curling up. It does help a bit if I tilt my heat gun that direction a bit, but they are still curling.

Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Mine curl around the edge of the bar... one I bought from someone else is the same. Kind of protects the edge that way. Is that the way yours are curling??

Sometimes mine do if I overheat them or get the heatgun too close. I kinda just wave it around the band and over the top pretty quickly. You can't always get them perfect, I have stopped trying, LOL!

It should be curling towards the bar not away from it. When I used them I would put the soap inside the band and then put it on a small dish upside down and then take the heat gun to it. HTH

Gently use heat gun to shrink wrap the ends first, then do the middle part going right to left or left to right but not upside down. This works for me.

Mine end up splitting on the sides if I get them to hot. I am still learning but it's good to know I'm not the only one who has had trouble.

Mine edges are curling towards the top. I guess I will have to move a bit slower and not have it so close.

I think I found a trick that works for me. I do the sides first and then the top and the bottom last. A few of the edges still curl, but it works for the most part. I like these better than the boxes because not only are they cheaper, but you can see and smell the soaps a lot better!

I do the edges first and then after I do each edge , while the wrap is still warm I flatten the edges by just putting it on end and pressing against the table.. I hope that makes sense. I works for me.

I got a nice heat gun from Lowe's that has variable heat settings and speeds. Have not tore up a band since. The 'commercial' heat gun I got for shrinking blew too hard and split the bands more often than not. The new gun gently shrinks these bands.

For those of you who shrink the ends first, do you have trouble with the bands going off-center? I have, so I usually do the center first, then the ends.

I just went through a learning curve with these when I switched from my old hair dryer to a real heat gun, especially with them splitting at the perfs. I've started staying farther away and moving slower & have had less trouble.

When I shrink soaps, I always lay them face down on a thick terry towel, which seems to help the front stay smooth.
