Tizimarezie
My daughter has been selling Gold Canyon Candles for a number of years, therefore, I was a buyer . As a safety precaution, their wicks will go out when the candle wax reaches about 1/2" from the bottom of the jar. I've always liked that nifty little 'feature'. But now that I'll be making my own candles, I was wondering if anyone knew the secret to this? Is there something placed on the last 1/2" (or so) of the wick to cause it to be unable to hold the flame? Thanks for any replies
Deb
I've never bought their candles, but I imagine they must just be using wick tabs with a longer collar.
Candle Man
That would be the metal wick tab with a 10mm neck.
Tizimarezie
Thank you, Candle Man Can I use any kind of wick with these metal wick tabs? I'm planning on starting out with ECO wicks. Will that work?...or do the metal wick tabs limit which wicks to use? Thanks again!
stephsteph
I use the the long neck wick tabs with HTP wicks and they work great.
Candle Man
You can buy most types of wicks already tabbed with the taller neck. Just check with your supplier and make sure the neck of the wick tab is 10mm.I know Lone Star's wicks have the taller neck. http://www.lonestarcandlesupply.com/wicks.html
Tizimarezie
Thank you, Candle Man!In researching, it appears that most places offer them in 6mm. Will this size also work in not allowing the flame to stay lit once the candle wax has reached a certain low point in the jar?
