Titanium Dioxide

I ordered some titanium dioxide to use on some of my swirled soap because I wanted part of it to be very white. Well I obviously didn't use enough because my soap didn't get white. How much do you use? And when you use this do you try to make your soap NOT gel? OR can it gel and still stay white? Do you mix it with water before adding it....or just add it dry? Can you tell I have never used this before?? LOL TIA for any help!

There are two types of Titanium Dioxide - water dispersible or oil dispersible - find out which one yours is - mine is water and I add it to the water before I mix in the lye.... I've found that if I use about 1 tablespoon for a 3 pound batch that it comes out looking white, without being chalky. There is a certain amount to use ppo, but I cannot remember the amount, maybe someone else can chime in?
