Funky Monkey
Hi guys. I have a question. I've done search after seach and think i'm more confused now then I was before.I am making a salt scrub. I'm happy with the recipe. Since water will be introduced, I know I need a preservative. My question is (I'm gonna feel stupid if I am totally off base - and I think I very well may be) I'm wondering if Vitamin E would be considered a preservative? I cannot remember what the heck Vit E adds to the mix. Thanks again for the help. I know it's a newbie question... but then again, I'm a newbie. Just trying to learn. MsDammit
I'm far from an expert but I believe that Vit E helps to preserve the oils, I use a preservative in my scrubs, HTH.
RobinInOR
Vitamin E is good for the skin, and is an antioxidant that helps extend the shelf life of the oils. It's antioxidant quality is one of the skin benefits. It doesn't kill bacteria or mold like a preservative will.

Meridith
I use phenonip in my scrubs to help prevent any ickies growing and Vit. E to help my oils and butters from going rancid.
