huberta
Hi there, Beeing new at you forum, as well as with candle making ( I am a potter). I would like to start to make my own candles to sell in my shop. Since I have from my pottery a lot of moulds out of Plaster of Parys, I would like to know can I use them to pour wax in them? Please could you give me some advice?.. regards Huberta
eugenia
I don't think you will be able to get the wax out of a plaster mold.Generally, molds are made of aluminum, tin, plexiglass, plastic or rubber.
Candle Man
You can use your pottery as containers to pour candles into, as long as they are glazed. Un-glazed pottery will wick up wax and then the pottery will catch fire when burned.I'm sure you could make some unique containers for candles. Maybe even your own signature line. On that note, maybe even special designed containers for some of us to sell. Just a thought, I'm always looking for something different than the same ol' same ol' & maybe some others on here would like something new too.
