I use Auction Checkout. Its auctioncheckout.com. Not just for auctions, it lets you send your customer an invoice for payment so they can pay for thier item without having to give your their CC #, or you can manually do it too. If you list auctions, you just punch in the code in your auction and the buyer can pay you through the button.

If you're considering PayPal, read this fine tidbit they sent me this morning relating to my issue with them:

"A chargeback occurs when a buyer asks his credit card to reverse a

transaction that has already cleared. In these cases, the amount of the

reversed transaction is deducted from the seller's account. All sellers who

accept credit card payments run the risk of and are liable for chargebacks.

If you accept credit cards, whether in person or through PayPal, you may

encounter a chargeback from a buyer - just as a seller accepting personal

checks might receive an occasional bad check. Chargebacks are an

unfortunate but a realistic cost of doing business. Generally sellers

factor this cost into their business plans"

So make sure you keep "extra" money in that account, or are prepared for the paper trail when they debit your checking account, because they can and will side with the customer no matter how much proof and proper paperwork you have!

eta .... we use SkipJack/Paynet to run the cards online and use Bank of America merchant service. Neither is the cheapest out there, but I don't want the hassle of switching, and have always been satisfied with them.
