Saltbox Pantry
There's so many out there and I plugged my numbers into 5 different ones, each giving me a different quantities. So which one is the best to use or most accurate so I won't get lye heavy soap. Is too much water going to ruin a batch?ThanksSP
RobinInOR
Use whichever one you're comfortable with. Oil have a range of SAP values, and each calculator picks a value w/i those ranges. It's more variable than you expect, so any of the calculators will give you safe numbers. They also pick different water amounts, cuz there's a couple different ways to calculate water. Just stick with one calculator so you're consistent. Too much water will just give you a softer soap that will take a long time to harden up. But it won't "ruin" it. Saltbox Pantry
Thank you RobinInOR!I normally use MMS and Soapcalc but lately my soaps have been a bit heavy on the lye. Trying to figure what the problem could be. I will stick with my Soapcalc. I'm going to test my scale to see if that's the culprit. Thanks again and have a great 4th of July,SP
Crafty1_AJ
I like soapcalc best. I have heard others rave about Soapmaker program. I can't vouch for it personally because I've never tried it, but trusted soapmakers I know love it.
