victoriaj
Hi, This is my first ever photo cane, i made it using plain salsol pillar wax as i cannot find hurricane wax in England. I have had a tea light in it for about 2 hours and there are a few wax drips on the inside . I have heard people saying they use an adative to increase the melting point, any suggestions of what to use and where to purchase it from?First one is lit, second photo is unlit, honest opionions please i dont mind constructive criticism:D
ajl
You can get wax hardening addatives from here (last one on the page) and they are in the uk. I've used them before and they are very good.http://www.fullmoons-cauldron.co.uk/waxandadditives.htmNice cane btw Angie
Kaybee23
Just wanted to say that the picture is too cute. Best of luck finding the right stuff, so you can try again.
MRSGROOMS
Very nice looking hurricane!! What is the diameter of your mold? That could make a difference in the size of candle you burn on the inside.
Corence
I'm not really able to give much advice, I just wanted to say for a first attempt you did real good. Keep up the good work, practice makes perfect.
victoriaj
thanks so much ajl - the clear hurricane crystals look just want i need and in the uk too.MrsGrooms - the diameter of the candle is 3 inchesThanks so much for your nice comments
sharyl55
Victoria, the 3" diameter could be your problem. Generally hurricanes at at least 4 3/4" in diameter. Good 1st 'cane.
creativegems
I think you did a good job but the candle might be too tall for a t-light. You might want to try a battery operated light so the wax doesn't melt. Janet
victoriaj
Thanks but i dont think we can get battery operated tea lights here in England, Thanks very much for the suggestion though
creativegems
Here is what I was thinking of. You would have to cut them down. I tried to find these on different sites but decided I'd have better luck on ebay. This is just a suggestion that maybe you can find where you live. I've used this type in very, very tall hurricanes.http://cgi.ebay.com/BATTERY-OPERATED-FAKE-WAX-STICK-WINDOW-LIGHT-CANDLES_W0QQitemZ320000800979QQihZ011QQcategoryZ10935QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
