gingerinarkansas
Does anyone know anything about Honeywell Okerin 76 wax? This was discontinued a few years ago and I was given 4 cases of it. I know that it is used for pillars and votives but that is about all I know. I did contact IGI but I haven't heard anything from them yet. topofmurrayhill
Here's the datasheet for it.http://www.astorwax.com/pdf/tds/OK76.pdfAccording to that it's 155 MP straight paraffin. Seems like it would be good for hurricane shells and other high melt point applications.
gingerinarkansas
Thanks Top, I thought I had looked every where for the info but evidently not since you found it. I've never used straight paraffin before. Any thing special I need to know? I'll do a search on it later. Ginger

gingerinarkansas
Thanks Butterfly, I'll take any info you want to share. I'm use to using J223 and Astorlite V so this is gonna be a whole new ballgame for me. I think I'm gonna be doing alot of research in the near future. I'm almost out of J223...can this paraffin be mixed to make a container wax? I know this is a trial and error thing...I guess I'd better read up on my game plan. GingerWell, the thing is I don't know what you could use it for besides hurricanes and the like. The MP seems too high for pillars or much else. gingerinarkansas
No wonder they gave it to me....they didn't know what to do with it either. Ginger

That might be a good project that isn't too complicated. You could go to Pourette and get a tin plated pillar mold and one of the tealight insert plugs. Then add just a little bit of Universal Additive to the wax so it molds nicely and comes out smooth. Maybe dye it on the light side so it glows through a bit and pour some tealights with white wax in the clear polycarbonate cups to go in the top. gingerinarkansas
Thanks Top, I truly appreciate all your advice and ideas. Like I said before, this is all new to me so I don't want to start out with anything to complicated and make a really big mess. I'll check out the mold your talking about. gingerinarkansas
Top, why a tin plated pillar mold versus another kind of pillar and what are the tealight/votive plugs made out of? Just curious. Ginger

GingerThe inserts work well with the tin molds, which Pourette specializes in (they're one of the sources suppliers get them from). The insert screws into the wick hole to change the shape of the top so there's space to drop in a tealight. http://www.pourette.com/product.asp?Product_Id=28209&d_Id=7010&l1=7010&l2=
gingerinarkansas
All righty then. I checked the Pourette sight out and I guess I'll give it a try. Gotta do something with this wax. Thanks for your help. Ginger
