CountryGal
Are the polyurethane molds as good as the silicone ones?
Scented
As far as what? Poly, I think needs a coating to keep it's life and silicone really doesn't need that.
CountryGal
In general. I have only made container candles and tarts. I have been looking at some molds lately and thinking about venturing into some small pillars. I see that the poly molds are WAY cheaper than the silicone molds and am wondering if they are as good or why they are cheaper. ??
Scented
They aren't as sturdy IMO and they require some additional care. The ones I had all needed to be oiled before use, because they will dry up and become brittle. Instructions should come with them on how to care for the polys. With the silicone, you don't need to apply a releasant. They'll stand on their own, not need some kind of support to hold the mold, and you can store them in baggies. charity4candles
I second Scented on that. With my experience, the silicone is far worth the $$. They don't require near the care that the poly ones do. Good Luck!
