LovelyLathers
Sorry you got zapped. I do think you have to rebatch from what I have read but I am by no way experienced lol. (I made my first batch yesterday) But I did not get zapped. I had a question as to what the zap would be like, my soap didn't taste that great but I do know now from you saying it was not a good feeling that mine did not ZAP! Jcandleattic
Depends on how old the soap is. If it's still soft and not out of the mold yet, it may still be going through the saponification process. I would wait at least 3 days after unmolding it to do the tongue test. If you get zapped after that, it most likely is lye heavy and would need to be rebatched. friendlyMOM
Do I need to keep it covered or uncover it?
cozyaromas
Well I can tell you from my personal experience, is that when I made my second batch of soap, I too got zapped. When I took the soap out the mold, it was nice and solid, after cutting it I noticed small white circles on certain bars when I did a tongue test, sure enough it zapped. I let it sit for a 3 more days, and although the rest of the soap taste like soap, the white circles, still zapped me. So I will need to do a rebatch. It usually zaps when the lye hasn't fully incorporated into the soap. I have a cooling rack that I got from the dollar store to put my soap on to finish the saponification process.I hope I could be of assistance.
