friendlyMOM
should I keep my CP soap covered till its done or not? I read somewhere that they uncover it during the jell stage, but not sure if i should just keep it on, will it hurt the soap?
Scent Cellar
I keep mine covered from the time I pour it into the mold until it is room temperature and ready to unmold & cut ... usually 24 hours.
Saltbox Pantry
I always keep mine covered. I pour into the mold and leave it alone until the next day.SP
Purple Lilac
I have done both ways and have found no difference in the soap. It is just a matter of preference. I now keep mine uncovered, just pour in mold and let sit on counter.
friendlyMOM
what would happen if you poured your soap before it had good trace to it? I got to thinkin bout that and if the lye temperature wAs higher than the oil?
SoapInTheCity
I have never ever, sat and waited and watched for my soap to 'gel'. I put the oven at the lowest setting possible just enough for it to heat up slightly, and put the soap into the turned off oven for 24 hours. Works every time! That way you don't have to cover it and all that fuss!
mountainmadness
I prefer my soap when it does not gel. I like the look of it better. It is just a matter of personal preference... it is still soap regardless.
sudsnwicks
I cover it, just to make sure there's no dust getting into it.
RobinInOR
I cover til I unmold, unless I know it's going to be a "hot" batch (honey, some FOs, some EOs). Then I peek until I see gel pretty much all the way, then take off most of the towels and just leave the cardboard cover (part of a box I cut apart).
