Help with a lotion recipe I want to try...

Hi all!

Can I just say how HAPPY I am this board is back up?!?!

Anyway, I came across a lotion recipe I want to try. However, I am not sure if the measurements are correct. They are as follows:

52 oz. white beeswax

1/2 cup almond oil

1/2 tsp. borax

1/4 cup rosewater

My question is with regards to the amount of beeswax. It seems to me that this much beeswax would cause the lotion to get over-hard. However, this is the first lotion recipe I am trying, so I could be completely wrong.

Any experts out there care to comment?

Any help is appreciated, as I would hate to waste these ingredients.

Thanks!

Heather

3 lbs. 4 oz. of beeswax!? Where did you get the recipe??

Not an expert but to me that sounds iffy though there might be an explanation for why there is sooooo much.

EXACTLY!!!!!!

I am so confused to this, MUST be a typo, right? I got it from...I can't remember! Which is why I can't verify it. If I use that much BW it will be a huge solid LUMP. (I think)

Well, I found out where I got it! I bought an ebook off the net awhile ago. This was one recipe. I am trying to find a recipe that usesboth beeswax and honey.

Here is another:

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup vegetable shortening

1 tablespoon ground almonds

1 teaspoon liquid lecithin

2 tablespoons bee pollen

1 egg yolk, at room temperature

1 teaspoon rosewater or cologne water

This is supposed to be a "Beeswax cold cream" recipe.

I was trying to use the calculator on the link provided, but when they are using half metric, half imperial, mixing volume and weight measurements...let's just say, the math gods have never been good to me :o

I am getting frustrated, because the ingredients are expensive and I do not want to waste any.
