cactusladycandles
I make container candles using igi 4630 container wax. I thought of making some chunk candles. I take it I would us the 4630 wax for the overlay. what kind of wax is best or the chunks. also, when doing a chunk candle, how do you determine the size of wick to use. Candle Man
A harder higher melt point pillar wax. But if you look at it when you fill up a container with chunks and the overpour you end up with 75% pillar wax & 25% container wax. You would need to test wicks of course. I don't like to use pillar/votive wax in containers because of the higher melt point. The higher melt point means you would need to use a larger wick which would mean a hotter flame and wax in a glass jar. Hotter could cause problems in glass.
