Gretchen
Geez! My day for oddities! Not all, and not always, but as the candle sets up, the wax climbs up a bit. Anyone?Gretchen
tootie04
Me too, I figure it is just another one of those soy thangs...I really dont pay to much attention to it. Patricia
bugtussle
The wax does not climb up the wick, but the wax shrinks away from the wick leaving some wax still clinging to the wick.
Gretchen
Yeah, right; but why? And why not all the time?Gretchen
tamsoycandles
Variables:1. Container size2. Pour temp3. Ambient temp/container temp.Wax shrinks when it cools. The wax will cool quickest where it makes direct contact with a surface. So, as you're pouring, the wax cools more quickly where it contacts the sides and the wick. It adheres to the wick and container and sticks there. As the rest of the wax cools, it shrinks. This will be more exaggerated in a large container with the wax poured at a high temp. Pouring slushy reduces final shrinkage.Note: these are my experiences with my wax. Your's may act differently.Yeah, right; but why? And why not all the time?Gretchen
