blackwebspider
I have just started into making gel candles and I bought a dye block and as you all know you only need a tiny amount. This block feels like crayon - can't I use coloured crayons to add to my melted gel? And, do I really need a thermometer?
Vicky_CO
No you should never use crayon to color gel.Yes you need a thermometer. But a candy thermometer only cost a few dollars at your grocery store. You don't what to mix your FO to hot.

sharyl55
You can do anything you want as long as you don't care whether or not you are making a SAFE gel candle that burns properly. And please don't sell them to anybody. It's one thing to burn down your house and another to be responsible for a fire at the home of a friend or neighbor. If you want to make a SAFE candle then please read the entire post Vicky gave you the link to. Also go to this web site http://www.gelcandlemaking.com/ and read all 9 sections. I printed out this info and used it to start my gel notebook. And since I'm still a newbie, I review this information every time I make a gel candle. Vicky is the gel expert here. If she is kind enough to give you some advise I would take it.
