to tab or not to tab?

Recommended Posts

another stupid question but figured if i ask here ill get the right answer.

I was told by someone who may (or may not) know what they are doing that it is not necessary it tab pillar or container candles? just measure the length needed center it and pour around it. that just didn't sound very fire safe, can somone tell me yes or no?

Containers must be tabbed and securely attached. Pillars are different. If I use a wick pin, I use a tabbed wick. If I prewick the mold, no tab. I clip the wick so it is below the surface before the final pour. It's perfectly safe and eliminates the bulge on the finished surface of the bottom of the candle.
