sandy511
I am afraid I am not a good note taker. I am trying to work on that. I want to make some votives for myself for the upcoming holidays and I just have a few questions. I dug out my 4794 wax and I remember I used wick pins and had luck with either an LX10 or an LX12 wick but I am curious if anyone uses any additives? If so, which ones? Also, how long do you let them cure? Thank you.
Jcandleattic
I use both Vybar 103 and stearic in my 4794 even though it's a blend and doesn't technically need additives. I like stearic to get a more opaque votive, and it helps release from the votive mold easier, and the 103 makes the FO bind a bit better and makes it just a tad harder. For these since they are 100% paraffin, I test burn after only a 3 day cure. I use 36z wicks with my votives though, not LX wicks, so can't help you there. sandy511
Thank you so much Jcandleattic. I will try adding some Vybar and stearic in my next batch. I'm pretty sure I also have some 36z wicks hanging around so I'm going to try them as well.
