Burned Smell

Recommended Posts

I've been making candles for quite some time now, and I've just started testing these new containers with LX wicks (which is what I've always used) and there's a noticeable burnt smell to them, both while burning for a while and when smelling it after the candle has been blown out. Is this normal? I've never before noticed such a thing! And I don't like it one bit!!! I was thinking maybe I have too big of a wick and that's what's causing the odor, but they're burning just fine. Anyone have this problem?!?!

Like, got it too hot before pouring it? No :( I always pour at the same temp...even if it did get too hot, would it really have a burnt smell? I don't think I've ever done that, but it doesn't have the smell before the candle is burned...just while it is burning and afterwards..does that make sense? :) If I scorched the wax- would it make the candle smell before burning it as well? Thanks for the input!

No, actually, I've never had a problem with my banana nut bread (JS's) I'm testing Waterfall Mist from Tony's, Peak's Ocean and ICS's Vanilla Hazelnut Coffee and those are the ones that smell like they're burning...I'm also testing RE's Flannel Sheets and Peak's Patchouli, but those smell just fine. I really am starting to wonder if the wick may just be too big and that's causing it..hmmmmm
