crvella
Hi guys'n'gals! In the new and exciting world of soy testing that I'm venturing into this week is the question of universal additive which looks like vybar, or universal soy additive that resembles a powder.I seem to only be able to get my hands on the UA. Is there really any difference? Can anyone recommend a starting point for 464?Hearing a lot about 415 I'm tempted to dive into this rather than 464 now haha. So many choices with soy! Guest OldGlory
464 already contains a soy additive. I suggest trying it without another additive.
topofmurrayhill
They are unrelated, and UA is only for paraffin. I think it's a combination of microcrystalline wax and polyethylene. USA is one of various mono- and diglyceride concoctions used as crystal modifiers and emulsifiers for fats.
crvella
Great thanks to you both for that. I'll keep it to plain for now. I can't actually get USA anyway right now
topofmurrayhill
Great thanks to you both for that. I'll keep it to plain for now. I can't actually get USA anyway right now As OldGlory alluded to, it won't actually be plain. 464 has "USA" in it already. You're good to go.
crvella
oh yeah! So there is! I actually did a test with 5%, 10% and 15% of 4627 with GW464, to try reduce frosting. It didn't reduce frosting, but I did notice that there was some air holes that followed the wick down, so when the candle was lit the wick burnt half way down before burning out, which meant the candle burnt itself out and it pretty much rendered it useless. Is this an issue with 464 or an issue due to the blend of 464 and 4627? I still prefer soy over paraffin 8-) I haven't seen any soot yet !!!
