blackish beewax

Recommended Posts

Hi, ive just starting making my first beewax candle. Mixed beewax with coconut oil. I think my wick is a little too big, as the beewax pool is turning black( the black burnt wick is dropping into the beewax pool). Another thing is, it smell horrible, burnt smell. The wick is not smoking but the house smells smokey. Should I stop burning the candle? Im worried that im creating more bad air pollution to the house . thanks. Hope to get some feedback

I've never mixed with coconut oil, so don't know if it is causing the problems. For me personally, if I had a candle that was acting that way and it was a mix that I wouldn't be using it again, it would be an outside candle. I wouldn't care for the smokey smell in the house. If it was a mix that I planned on using again, it would go back in the pot.
