SmellgoodDiva
VERY new at making bath bombs, having some issues with these little boogers. I have not read anywhere that anyone else is having problems with powdered pigments making for a rather smelly bath bomb, mine had a chemical "hair perm" odor, and this was on 4 different scents. It took me a while to realize that it HAS to be the colorant, I first thought it was the witch hazel, and then maybe the plastic bowl having a reaction. My very first batch turned out so pretty and behaved so well using liquid soap colors, but left the dreaded ring around the tub when I tried to deepen the colors. I am using only high grade, name brand ingredients (baking soda, citric acid, etc.) I would be sooo grateful for any help or advice anyone could give me!My recipe: 1 c baking soda, 1/2 c citric acid, 1 Tb. kaolin clay, 1/2 Tb. f/o, around 1/2 t hydrated chrome green pigment from Brambleberry and spritzing with witch hazelThanks!!! Dolphin146
I allways used these colorants and they worked really well http://www.coastalscents.com/make-your-own-100/bath-fizzy-ingredients/colorants/wc-016.html You used to be able to buy the whole set from her But now I only see a few colors. But so a search and you will find them. I also think Michaels and Hobby Lobby may carry them. Just look in the baking section.
SmellgoodDiva
I just placed an order for the la bomb colors from Brambleberry, I've heard a lot of good things about these, but they are quite pricey! Thank you for your response Dolphin, I will definitely check those out as well!I really hope this resolves my bath bomb issues and that it's not something else that I have overlooked, I haven't read ANYWHERE of anyone else that has had these issues.
