Bella Rose
Are you saying your wax is releasing from the votive glass once it's set? I don't make my votives that way, but it sounds like you would need to use a container blend maybe? Not sure exactly, sorry! I'm sure others will be able to chime in soon )
Kaczor
I make it in this glass http://www.e-kalia.pl/swiece/zapachowe-w-szkle/swieca-w-szkle--stearynowa--vanilla-3szt.htmlhttp://www.e-kalia.pl/swiece/swieczniki/swiecznik-votive-szklanka-h6cm.htmlIt's wide on the top and narrow on the bottom
Beth
You pour paraffin over a votive candle in a votive holder? Or maybe I don't understand the question..
Kaczor
Yes, I do like you said
Chefmom
Regular paraffin shrinks, so it comes away from the glass. You need to use a lower melt point paraffin that is made for containers so that it adheres to the glass better. Even then it's not perfect and you may have some spots that shrink, but it won't rattle.Usually the votive is just burned in the tight fitting glass container, it is slightly softer than a pillar and so it melts down and becomes a container candle in the end. Judy, USMC
You are using the wrong wax. Container wax will make it adhere to the glass. [Wy potrzebujecie różnego *wax*. Judy, USMC
Now I'm just waiting for someone who really knows Polish to tell me what a bad job I did.
Beth
The question I keep thinking is 'Why do that?' I don't make votives; am I missing something?
Judy, USMC
Beth - It's just an overpouring method to use purchased votives or re-inventing excess votive stock without doing a remelt, rewick and repour. I've done it a couple of times. It is a quick & easy method you usually see in the dollar store imports from Asia.
Kaczor
Thanks for all @Judy - are you using Google translator? Meaning of the sentence is different. My polish is quite good, I'm from Poland but my English is... no comment We use this method, because like wrote Judy, it's easier and quicker Now, I know what I did wrong. I used wrong wax, the same as for rustic candles. I must order paraffin wax with lower melt point. Do you think, that paraffin wax with melt point 122F will be good or I should find sth else?Oh, I've forgotten. I also add vybar to our candles... Kaczor
Judy, have you ever tried to use hot-melt glue to hold your paraffin in the glass ?
