Grani L
I was wondering does anyone know how long I should wait after pouring the bottom part of the Cupcake before I apply the top. I am planning to pipe on the frosting. Should I wait until the bottom have cooled 6-8 hours later or should I do it soon as it becomes solid while its still a little bit soft? Also is pillar / votive tart wax the way to go? ---I have also considered cupcake silicone molds.--But does it take a long time for the wax to congeal in the mold? Any suggestions / help would be greatly appreciated!!Thanks Edited January 10, 2013 by Grani L
justajesuschick
I might have guessed when they were not quite solid for adhesion, but I found this which shows contrary. If you are making melts you can skip the wicking, of course.http://www.candletech.com/techniques-and-ideas/cupcake-candles/
KandiDecora
Ive tried this method http://chickensintheroad.com/house/crafts/making-cupcake-candles/ with a warm muffin pan and paper liners. Only thing I did different was piped the "frosting" instead of spooning it on.
Grani L
Oh wow. Thanks. You have any idea what type and size wick to use if I were to make it a candle?
Grani L
Never mind, I read the directions and it was in there. Thanks
dillypooh
I also want to make some and pipe the icing but I was wondering how everyone does this. It seems to me that by the time youget the wax in the piping bag it would be too solid to pipe. Can anyone help me out on this?
mulberrysoap
I am also a beginner, but maybe you have to whip the wax which allows it to be piped?
dillypooh
Yes you do have to whip the wax but I was wondering after that how long before it solidifies in the bag.
Ravens
I whip the wax and put it on the capcake base; but you have to work rather quickly, as the wax cannot be too stiff (solid) nor too runny. hth :smiley2: I also want to make some and pipe the icing but I was wondering how everyone does this.
