CD vs Cotton Core wicks

Recommended Posts

Forgive my possibly silly question... but I've only used HTP wicks in the past. However, my reading suggests a cotton core wick for use in 100% soy waxes. I had thought, for some reason, that CD and Cotton Core wicks were the same thing. That is until I came across Rustic Escentuals wick page that has both listed lol.

So what is the difference between the two??

Editing to add: Will be ordering some 415 soon from Peak, and will be using it in glass jars - as for how I'd be using the wicks.

Thanks!

The HTP wick is flat braided in design, but with thin paper fibers intertwined.

Formerly known as CD and CDN wicks respectively, the Stabilo and Stabilo KST wicks are coreless, non-directional, flat braided wicks with a special paper filament woven around them.

As for that wax and glass jars I don't know which wick to try.

So CD is not the same as Peak's Cotton Core wicks? Peak's are what I'm looking at right now since I can hopefully get nearly everything from one place and save on shipping.

No...Peak's does not sell CD wicks.

I've been experimenting with RRD wicks with are cotton cored as well as directional. I am finding that these are better than my standard wick (HTP) with thicker FOs. They are also said to work well with more viscous waxes, like vegetable wax.

I can tell you my experience with peak cotton wicks in 415 - NOT a good match- I got mushrooms like I never saw before! The throw was great but serious big balls! Lol

The CD and CDN series have worked best for me in this wax- I have not tried the HTP

The CD you can get at lonestar with the taller neck- NG has switched to the the short neck which I feel is a safety hazard -for my jar anyways

The CDN you get at southwest candle supply or CC
