  2. The soy container blend wax I used was supplied by EL to MoonGlow. I sent an email to EL and asked about additives they said the wax shouldnt need it. I did get 3 different types of wax in the kit the millenium the soy blend and the votive sot blend, and the container soy blend. Even after the first burn you can see in the pic that it continued to frost. Stella what additive would you reccomend using. (Vybar)? I seen somewhere its not reccomended for soy. I would be greatful to know as I don't want to not use the soy container blend and continue getting these results, I'm still not sure of all the abbrevation's, what is USA? I did stir it alot but will take you suggestion with the next batch. I've really learn alot from you all and I'm very thankful to have found this forum, it's the best! Thanks in advance!
  3. Howdie, I'm east river too. Mitchell area.
  4. Ok here are the pic's of FMP after 1 n 1/2 hrs, and after the burn. I let the candles cure for 3 days. I got frosting from inital pour and again after first burn still have 2 candles unburned. Inside dia. is 1 an 7/16th" height is 1 an 1/2" I'm going to let the other 2 cure longer before burning. I'm thinking the soy container blend i got from moonglow will need some aditive to help with the frosting. :undecided :smiley2: and someday i will figure out how to add pic's lmbo!:rolleyes2
  5. Inside dia. is 1 n 7/16, and the heigth 1 1/2th FO is cucumber melon. I poured 3 candles from a batch of 10oz wax and .5 oz FO I got 2-2oz and 1-8oz tins.(actually I think the 8oz tin was really a 6oz.) I burned the 2oz tin for 2 hr's. and had full MP in 1 1/2hrs depth of pool was what I thought 1/2'' but I think it was really only 1/4'' after I blew the candle out and let it harden, again it continued to have the frosting on top, not sure why. this is the very first candles I made and have previous post on them. I'm wondering is I should just melt them down and start over.
  6. Hello, I'm doing the first test burn, and have a question. How long do I do the first burn? I got a full melt pool in 1.5 hrs. melt pool is 1/2 in. deep low HT but I only added 1/2oz of FO to 10oz wax. soy container blend, and 44-24-18C wick. no draft by candle. any suggestions? Or is it going well? How many more test should I do on this one candle? Maybe I will got sniff some coffe and check the trow again, lol! Thanks, Cary
  7. After further investigation I see that MoonGlow is a disturbitor for Enchanted Lites, I checked their site on soy wax and they didnt give much detaul either on the soy blends they offered.
  8. I took your advice Stella and I think they may have sent me the 6oz tin's inteasd of the 8oz tins. I plan to contact them about this and see what they recommend I should do. it might be a problem (which I'm hoping not) sence I use 1 of the larger tins. we'll see what happens. Thanks for the advice.
  9. I got the Ultimate soy kit, I just started my first burn today at 4pm still waiting on HT. MP, ext. updated my note from the ones I had wrote down and I see there are a few more thing to add to them, lol All 3 blends I got are in pellet form. other then the millennium blend the others dont have real detail as to what kind they are just a blended form I poured at 100*
  10. Ok. Now I just need to know what all the abbreviations are and what they mean and then I'm set lol
  11. oops forgot all that, lol. I'm glad you told me this as I was wondering what the things are I need for when I'm taking my notes, I'm such a wax drip, rofl! What else should I be keeping notes on?
  12. The wax didnt have any real name other then soy container blend, the room temp was 70* but it could be for other reasons. still learning things. I might try a higher pour temp, or lower, lol I'll do that with the heat before I test them, at least its not a total loss, lol
  13. Here are my very first candles I have ever made, going to be testing them soon, they have only been curing for 3 days. :smiley2: I got some frosting on the tops but that could be for a couple different reason's. One reason I'm thinking is the wax I used. I think it needs a additive. Maybe I will test them tomorrow
  14. Everything was weighed on a scale, wax, FO except the 2 drops of dye.
  15. I have ordered tea from them but that was all, never had any issue's.
  16. well after re downloading it I got it to work, the avery is a nice program lots of stuff to choose from.
  17. well i found the free download for the avery and downloaded it but it didnt work. I have Windows XP so it sould have work but it didnt seem to download the programs just icons lol. I might try to download it again see if that works.
  18. Sorry, I'm confused? I understand that weight is the same and volume is different. So wax increases in volume when it is melted? sorry I'm such a newbie at this. I only know that I measured 10oz of wax, added 1/2oz FO and 2 drops dye and ended up with 2oz's extra. it wasnt that big of a deal I just ended up with another 2oz. tin. I feel so dumb, lol. I think I will try GaryPC's advice and see how that works for me. Thanks for all the advice.
  19. I'm looking for a templet to make lables, anyone have any idea. Thanks in advance
  20. Thank you! this helps alot! and lets me know my scale is working properly Thanks again! Everyone has been such a great help and I'm so greatful for your post's. Thank you all.
  21. Ok, I will keep that in mind better yet I'll write it down, lol I didn't think 1/2 oz of FO and 2 drops of dye would increase it 2oz. I must have mesasured wrong or my scale is wrong, hoping not with the scale I just got it. Thanks for the info. Thanks Pam for the math trick I will try that too, and write it down also. my memory isnt like it use tobe lol.
  22. Thank you so much! awesome link with great info. and I will be sure to check the Veggie forum. So the weight of the unmelted wax is different then when its melted and thats why I ended up with more wax? After I do my test can I reuse the tins? Thanks again for the info. I appreciate it greatly ps. sorry I'm still so new at this and yesterday was the very first candles I have ever made but they smell great! lol On to the test burn.
