  1. I was able to find rubber gloves for washing dishes that were heat resistant and along with a pair of rubber gloves inside am unable to feel any heat through them. I live in Canada so I can't give you any suggestions where to look for them, I bought mine at a big box store, but it is a Canadian company only.

  2. :o Thanks for the help, but I don't need them. I have a whole bunch of 5 watt bulb, I thought the ones that I had were 7 watts it pays to look at the packaging. Now I will look for 7 watt bulbs instead. I wish that we had craft store like the two listed in Canada, but only have a Michaels around here, and I find that they don't have much of a selection of anything.

    Thanks for the help

  3. I have had nothing but excellent customer service from BCN. I had purchased some bears from them one time and had received the wrong one. I sent them an e-mail explaining the situation, I was shocked when they phoned me about my problem and fixed it with no difficulties. I purchase a lot of supplies from them and couldn't be happier.

  4. Have you checked out Village Craft and Candle they have both the Tiki and Buddha molds. They are 2 piece plastics molds, I don't know the quality of them as I have never use them. I know when I saw their different plastic molds in their store that I beleive that they were from Pourette at the time, but seeing as Pourette is now closed they could be a different supplier now.

  5. Well, if Auntie S. gets them, that fits the current green mantra of "reuse, reduce, recycle". :)

I'm accumulating those too, but I was hoping to thoroughly clean them and put something else in them, as Islandgirl suggested. But how do you get them thoroughly clean? The openings are too small to get a brush down in. Would putting them in the dishwasher get all the residue out?

They are really easy to clean out, all I do is soak them in a dish pan of hot soapy water, then I rinse them out well with clear water and set them to dry. The residue is gone and they are nice and clean.

  6. Very true. But when Fed-Ex screws up, and delivers the package W/O collecting the brokerage fee......then tries to collect it from the recipient after the fact.......and the recipient DOESN'T pay......it becomes the responsibility of the shipper.

$60 later, ask me how I know.

I guess I shouldn't have put Fed-ex in in my reply as I have never dealt with them. My packages usually come UPS, and the one time that my package was delivered and they forgot to collect my brokerage fees they sent me a bill for them.

  7. I have someone in Canada who wants a few samples of my soaps. I've only sent international before as a gift (and they were!!). If I put merchandise - soaps and the value, do I need to do anything else? What will happen on her end?

Even if you put the value of the product that you are shipping, the receiver rarely has to pay a fee when they pick up the order. Even you have to pay a fee with Canada Post it is a 5.00 fee and sometimes the taxes on the product. But with all the parcels that I receive via Canada Post that originated in the States there has only been 1 time that I had to pay any extra fees.

  8. Yes, PLEASE use USPS, not UPS or Fed-Ex, or you'll have to pay brokerage fees which are huge.

When you are shipping from the states to Canada via UPS or Fed-ex. The person who is receiving the item has to pay the brokerage fees.

  9. I don't have a website of my own yet. But as a customer I really like to use Paypal, and don't like the option of only being able to use my credit card for doing purchases. I actually think twice before ordering something if the Paypal feature isn't there I like the Instant transfer method of payment with them. This is just my opinion as a customer I don't know what it's like from a business perspective.

  10. I find with my silicone molds, that you need to tap the sides of them to get rid of tiny bubbles. When you tap the side of mold you will see the tiny bubbles come to the surface and pop. The other night I made a silicone mold candle and when I demolded it is was covered in tiny air bubbles. I made another one last night and when I poured it, I took my stir stick and stirred the wax around in the mold. When I took it out of the mold there were absolutely no air bubbles and was so glossy looking. Hope this helps.

  11. I drove down to Buffalo & bought my presto's, then had my dad put in the spigot for me.

Both Canwax & VCC are awesome suppliers, I'm going to the VCC retreat in May!

You are right about both being awesome suppliers I get a lot of my supplies from both places, as my sister lives in Kitchener and saves so much on shipping when I pick up suppliers when I go to visit her. I looked at VCC candle retreat but decided not to go, have you ever been there before? Maybe next year.

  12. No problem, I figured that is what you meant. Do you use the 4786 for votives?

Yes I do make all my votives with 4786, it usually comes out of the molds easily if not I just stick in the fridge for a little while and they slide right out. I have had many positive comments on my votives, because of the scent through, one customer stated these only candles that I can still burn and smell after having them a year.

  13. I will let you know how the pop out of the melters. I have some votives that I have to top off tonight and was going to see how they worked in clamshells myself, it would be great if it worked because I find that I always have some wax left over when I pour my votives and don't know what to do with it, so it justs ends up sitting around.

Sorry I forgot to put in 4786

  14. Thanks everyone for your input. I see there are mixed feelings.

Cindy, I would love to try JS's pillar wax. The thing is, I am trying to keep my cost down as much as possible when I can.....especially on small items that you can't make a whole lot off anyway. So, darn, it looks like I am going to be limited if I need to keep my shipping cost down. There is always something....either too much frost for a particular application or lack of scent throw. It can really be frustrating at times. I really cannot have frost with this particular application -- would take away the look. So, I may tinker with the 4794 with a softer wax added like DiamondK does and see what happens. I will also look to see if there is another one that Let It Shines carries other than 4794. I think I saw one on there but not sure if it would be better.

Has anyone ever tried the IGI 4786 for melts? I have some of that on hand from when I first started testing candles. I hope to get something to work out. Thanks again!
