Yea they had lines.. I had just pulled them from the mold and shot a quick pic for a friend that wanted to see the 2.. ya the light green one is a 2 part polycarb mold from candlewic.com.... ya I'm at 40 molds now so I euter need another rack for moldsor need to stop buyin them

I did a show in beecher il . The lions club sponcered it. It was 30 bucks a table... it was my very 1st show so I had fun and learned a lot. Ring of fire were do you get your wax from.. I need to stop buyin from hobby lobby its costing me a fourtune. Toss me a message some time we can meet up at a starbucks or something and yap candles :-)

Yep its a Doo Doo candle BUT .... it smells like fresh cut roses! I brought 9 to a craft show on a whim and sold them for 8 bucks just to test the market for them ... lets say i sold em out in less than 2 out of 6 hours i was there ... to sell them i put them on the ground kind of in front of my tables.. It was too funny watching people go eww and walk around them only to have the little children pick them up and " hey mommy this smells good" .. as the mother cringes.... it made my day

the drum is where i store my cut up wax to be melted down in the presto pots. i got it from work( home depot) we had a sectional sewer snakes new cables come in it so i snatched it. if anyone in the area needs one let me know i'll keep my eyes open for another one. as for the rainbow candles .. i kind of lost the pictures on my hard drive.. as soon as i locate them they will be posted Can i ask a favor as well could some one post this bottom half to where it belongs i can not post it into the OT section ... thank you Thank you so much Alan and Sara for bringing the server back up and running .. i may only have been here a short time but i find that all the info here is priceless and has and will continue to help me make better and better candles to come ! well it comes down to me being a forum nub and i want my candles to be the best they can be.. so if some one has time to answer thanks a million!!!!! So here i go with my questions... stearic acid and vybar ... i know stearic can harden and cause mottling and vybar allows me to add more FO... what else should i know molds i use metal, plastic, and some large heavy silicone... metal always looks nice and clean after i clean them, plastic are nice and smooth shapes and sized silicone has the critters i like but leaves a mottling effect on them ... what am i doing wrong with them Fo's i usually add 1/2 oz to a pound with 1/2 tsp per pound of vybar .. my scent smells nice when lit but i want better .. suggestions ? now for the hard part .. I've been using crafty candle wax from hobby lobby it costs too much at 17.99 for 10 pounds. i found a place close that sells it at 16.00 for 10 pounds and less if i buy more...i know I'll need 2 different kinds of waxes .. 1 for molds and 1 for jars and containers. if i can find the stuff that i need there i'm gona buy 60 pounds of each and make a crud ton of candles here is the sight http://www.dpswax.com/products.html thanks ahead of time to everyone who helps !!!! jason

hmm that changes everything i do towards scenting my candles .....so as a expl. .. if i am scenting 2 pounds and my ratio is 1/2 oz per pound i just just weigh it it out on my scale in my glass beaker then add it to the wax ... i shale try tonight!!!

Well thanks for all the responses.. the reason i asked as i have said before i figured out candle making all by my self, no ever did i think there was a forum like this to help me along the way. The stuff i read had me measuring out FO in fluid oz's and then adding right before i poured so that what i did and focused on. to all those of you who weigh out your oils... what do you do when different oils are more dense than others ? how do you make sure you are using the correct amount ? I still have questions on stearic acid and vybar and other chems thanks all

So i'v been making candles for about 5 years and when it comes to dispencing my Fo's i cringe. I have done the .. ok that looks like i poured enough method that gave me sludge in the bottom, i have doen the tespoon to oz measure method. i'v even gone as far to count how many drips are in a oz and let me tell u i wanted to shoot myself after that one. yea i am building 5 of the rainbows tonight they don't have scent in them just look pretty. i will post a picture when they are done. as for the room .. i love it as well i have 54 diffrent colors and 35 scents i have to use and 39 diffrent molds .. each color has it's own stir stick so i have less of a chance to cross colors. LOL if anyone in NWI or close wants to see your welcome to stop by and make a few with me .. who knows maybe we can learn from each other!

yea 7 of the pitchers are dedicated to a rainbow style candle i make. i uses 7 different colors in 3/4" layers. i just kept the different colors in pots since at the time i had no way to store the extra wax and i only made 1lb batches of each color at a time .. each layer is approx 2-3 oz of wax. i'll make one tonight to show off tomorrow. the only problem with making them is the time between layers.

yep one wic it burns pretty nice .. yep candlewic sells it you wil need a peice of 4" pvc to rig it correctly .. i'll post a pic when i get out of work today on how i did it

Hey Steve I'm guessing we are a rare sort I really do find candle making relaxing and makes happy when i create something that i know some one will enjoy... real funny thing is .... u all are gona laugh .....wait for it ..... i have only ever burned 1 tea light candle of my own...in the 5 years i have been making them. LOL my family all tests them for me and i get feed back .. i figure i smell them enough when i pour them i really don't' need to burn them .... My G/f loves that almost every time i goto her house i bring at lest one for her ....her mantle is full her dresser full bathroom full ... i got yelled at last week when she told me to stop till she can burn some... lol is it bad when my tea lights burn for about 6+ hours.. just picture what a 1 pounder jar can do

yep its easy i'm guessing you are in Australia i have 60 pounds of a one time casting material you could try, it mixes 1:1 with room temp water .. we'd have to see how much it may cost to ship ya pound or 2.

i started with candle magic crystal wax .. it was labeled crafty candles from hobby lobby. as for the vybar 260 well i kind of use it in all my candles since for a lack of better saying i don't know any better. i currently use 10lb wax slabs from hobby lobby and i know there has to be better out there to use because it is costing me about 1.85 a pound. I'm totally open to hearing more about what additives to use in my wax and why. i'd be happy to send ya one of my jars and molded candles to test out if your interested to see how some one who has never had contact with another candle maker did

Hi everyone out there I'm Jason and iv been a independent candle maker for the last about 5 years. I started with a 40 buck kit from hobby lobby with this weird pre-colored wax and crappy FO's. with in the last year i almost made a business out of my craft but decided it was more fun to sell at craft shows and give them away to friends family and co-workers and anyone who wants one . in the past 6 months iv gone though over 400 pounds of wax. I use the hobby lobby crafty candle paraffin wax (133-135 melt point) with a 1/2 tsp of vybar 260 per pound. I also use the diamond color candle chips for color (1 chip per pound) and i order my FO's from natures garden, candlewic, peak candles and spirit crafts with 1/2 oz. per pound FO's I currently have 39 different molds. i have metal, poly, plastic, and silicone. I have made my one molds useing products from smooth on. I am here to make friends, make a better candle, have fun and find a wax dealer in my area or with in 25-50 miles of north west Indiana that i can go pick up so i can skip out on shipping. if anyone in the NWI area would like to try one of my candles and toss me some feedback please let me know and i will find a way to give you one.
