  1. I only make melts for personal use and for friends and family. Making my own works out a lot cheaper for me, although I'm a bit addicted to trying new scents so that bit isn't saving me any $$. I guess when I work out what I like, and work my way through the FO's I have I will be on top, not to mention the entertainment value (and my use of new words, although they aren't all gems). Candles seem the expensive side to me. When I started making my melts I looked into making my own tealights as well, but couldn't do it cost effectively. But I wonder if that is an Aussie thing? Not being able to buy them ready made as cheap I mean.
  2. Wow, that is lovely! Would be so beautiful as a wedding table piece.
  3. Thanks very much, I will take all suggestions on board and try them all out. An Aussie AND a QLD'er....doesn't get any better than that lol
  4. I use 416 and have no complaints so far. Pour temp is 90-104, but I pour hotter (120 - into metal molds) as I find it cuts down on frosting, although not all together. That said here in Australia the hobby makers like me pretty much only have the choice of Golden Brands or Ecosoya, and I haven't tried the Ecosoya yet (have just ordered some to try out though) so my experience is VERY limited.
  5. Thanks for another suggestion! I have ordered some more wax and will try out the same fo's and see how I go. Thanks again
  6. Wow, they look great! The first and last ones are my favourite, but they all look awesome.
  7. Thanks marcuset! Addiction is quite right. I got into making my own melts to save money. I use them a LOT, and postage was making them quite expensive. Although I have discovered it is much cheaper to make my own in theory, my new addiction for trying different scents and colours is costing me a small fortune. And this site doesn't help with all the other candle AND B&B ideas I want to try now! lol I will make sure from now on that I don't zone out watching TV as I stir...and of course I've now had to order more wax so I can try my bubbled scents again.... Thanks for your welcome and reply
  8. Hello! I've been reading this board for weeks, getting amazing tips and answers, but finally decided to join and ask a question. I can't seem to use the "search" function to find an answer, but it does tend to take me a while to work these things out lol. In a few of my tarts I have managed to get dozens of tiny air bubbles. Ultimately it doesn't bother me as I only make them for myself, friends and family, but I am curious as to why this is. Actually if wax dried clear it would probably be quite pretty.... It seems to have happened to ones I have used "thick" FO's on (Caramelised Pralines and Hazelnut Cappuccino) so I am not sure if it has something to do with that, or if I'm possibly daydreaming when making them and stirring the FO in too vigorously? I'm (I think) ruling out the wax it's self and temps, as 98% have been perfect, but it's just got me curious. Thanks for reading!
