  1. Best investment for my business I've ever made. I still can't believe how long I used the double boiler method for.
  2. Sent Trader Joe's Corporate a message, and haven't heard back from them as of today. I did just get off the phone with the Store Manager at my Local Trader Joe's. I asked if the EVOO they sell is indeed 100% Olive oil not cut with ANYTHING, and she said it was 100% EVOO. I'm going to pick up a bottle next time i'm in the area and make a small 1 pound test batch. I don't know for sure when i'll be able to stop by, but if and when I do make a test batch, i'll make sure to post my results.
  3. Almond Oil (Sweet) 2.00oz 03.8% Castor Oil 2.00oz 03.8% Coconut Oil (76 Degrees) 16.00oz 30.8% Olive Oil (Pomace) 16.00oz 30.8% Palm Oil 16.00oz 30.8% 3% Lye (Sodium Hydroxide) Amount 7.603oz Ounces of liquid recommended 17.16oz Yields 76.76oz I will be Superfatting at 3% (using Shea Butter) Does this sounds like a nice hard bar with lots of lather, or should I up the Castor Oil a bit?
  4. I'll be calling Trader Joe's corporate offices on Monday, to find out if it is indeed 100% un-cut olive oil.
  5. I was looking around today, to see what oils I'd be able to buy locally (so I can save a bit of money on shipping), and I noticed that Trader Joe's had a 33.8oz bottle of EVOO for $4.99. I haven't stopped in Costco yet, but that seems pretty cheap. (4 bottles = $19.96 and you would get 135.20oz of EVOO).. The back said PURE Virgin Olive oil, blah blah blah.. Didn't see anything about it being a mixture of soy or anything. Does anyone use the Trader Joe's EVOO?
  6. Thanks everyone! I went ahead and ordered my oils from NG since I had to restock some FO's I was out of. I ordered Palm,Olive,Sweet Almond,Coconut, and Argan oils.. along with a BUNCH of colorants and butters. Next time I'll just order from BB since shipping to me is at the MOST, $12.00 (and I get it next day since we're both in WA)..
  7. ok, I made 1 pound M&P loaves with all 3 Pink Sugar oils... IMO, the SNC is the most authentic to the real perfume. Smells like NG's but a lot stronger.... (I didn't like NG in B&B, but loved it in wax products).. The AH/RE version is pretty good.. more on the sweeter side, and KY is SUPER SWEET (my favorite)
  8. It really is a science... LOL and I bet our customers think we get the wax heat it and add FO. pour and we're done.. IMO, There's a lot of prep that is done before we even heat the wax (picking cardboard specks/dirt off the corners of the wax slabs before we break them up to melt them, ETC..) LOL
  9. I start testing around July.. have them ready by the middle/end of August.
  10. **ordered.. I swear.. My iPad's autocorrect pisses me off. lol
  11. I went ahead and order these two molds...pretty good deal! http://toughtimbers.ecrater.com/p/11468790/a-lot-of-2-wood-wooden-soap-mold-to
  12. Thanks Talltayl.. My crazy ass needed to hear that... I would of tried and found out the hard way!.. I knew it was bad... but if the mold was wrapped 100% I don't see why it would hurt. lol I guess i'll be sticking to wood/silicone molds.
  13. ****IF, and this is a BIG if. I were to line the mold with thick butcher paper, and there would be no chance of the soap touching the Aluminum pan... Do you think I would be OK? Or should I just keep it safe and stick to silicone/wood? and Thanks, Asheebeans.. I have a table saw I've never used..LOL.. Thinking it will due the trick.. I don't want to cut my hand off, so I may have my friend who works at Home Depot cut it for me!
  14. 1. Does anyone have the dimensions to make a Wooden Soap Mold? I've found some online, but they seem like smaller bars. I was looking for a "standard" bar. (big enough to hold a 74.03oz recipe) 2. Also, Do you think it would be safe to use a long loaf Wilton Pan (made of Aluminum : http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?id=3E30C8D2-475A-BAC0-50D5896A4D08661D&killnav=1 ) IF, and this is a BIG if. I were to line the mold with thick butcher paper, and there would be no chance of the soap touching the Aluminum pan... Or should I just keep it safe and stick to silicone/wood?
  15. It was VERY weak OOB, in B&B, and in Wax. I used it in a custom blend of 4794/6006. Had to be an old oil.. or the worst Honey Dew FO on the market ;-)
  16. Love Lone Stars Fruit Slices and Caramel Apple... Maybe you got a bad batch of oil (I got their Honeydew and it HAS to be an old oil.. you can BARELY smell it.. when I called, she said it was fresh.. BS.lol)
  17. Thanks TallTayl... I guess I should have said Soap oils for your recipe, not fragrance oil.(Coconut oil,Palm Oil,Olive,Castor, etc.) I was wondering if the quality is there... or if they just picked the cheapest oil on the market so they could be competitive.
  18. I'm going to start making CP soap very soon (after I sell a bunch of Yankee candles I have sitting around... Just started selling them today, and more than half of them are sold...LOL) Has anyone tried NG's oils? What do you think of them? Are they as good as BB oils? I like the fact that NG packages them in one pound bottles, and if you buy 7, you get a discount... BB will give you a discount as well.. But packages some in big bulk bags, and iMO.. It's a pain in the ass.
  19. I use a rubber mallet and a $4.00 heavy duty putty knife (from Home Depot).. The brand of the putty knife is HYDE.. I've broken up MANY 4794 cases, and it's still like new...This thing is quality made!
  20. Just used a sample of the Clear M&P (finished product sample from AH/RE), and WOW. So much lather!!! IMO, WAYYY better than WSP's Clear M&P!
