  1. Ha! I've experimented with this also & all you CAN do is learn through trial & error. A heat gun isn't the solution because it heats the seal up too much & yes, causes the wax to run. I didn't find the perfect solution. I DID find the best results came when I held the seal in place until the wax had cooled right down though. The biggest problem was that I was using a traditional type of seal (for letters/ paper etc) & the engraved indents (the letters & pattern) weren't "deep" enough to leave a really clear impression in the wax. I was thinking that if I ever took it further, I would have to do as candybee suggested & get one or two custom made for this purpose. I think it would be tricky to get the right "depth" carved into the seal in the end. TOO deep & that'd create a whole host of other probs. Still, it might just have been I was using a dodgy seal... you may find other "standard" ones out there that are better =)
  2. Yep... put your money where your mouth is, roll up those sleeves & get swirling =) Here's a thing I've noticed... when I feel "obligated" to make candles (like I HAVE to get a certain type/ colour made up for whatever reason), they don't turn out as well as those I've put my heart & soul into. It's a bit like cooking! You can really see/ taste the good results when you've enjoyed making the meal. Seriously! Take the pressure off her, start making them yourself... iron out any glitches & get em where you want em & she might come round. Nothing worse than having to do something that's just not your thing! Good Luck =)
  3. I'm hearing the same thing a LOT over here in Oz. Seems the Trend, if you are "Genuinely" eco friendly, is to only burn Soy Candles. All waxes have their good & bad points, right? I'm putting it down to a "new" way of "spinning" your product. If you are happy making sales by scaring the beguck out of your customers, well good for you! (well no, really, shame on you =) Personally, I don't want any part of it. I have my facts as straight as I can get 'em, so if anyone wants to know, I've got the goods to tell them WITHOUT scare tactics. @EnvyCandles, what ISN'T linked to cancer these days? True dat! We're dropping like flies because of our poor nutrition & resultant ratty health/ immune systems... but that's another story
  4. I sympathise with you!!! Seems to me you just manage to get around one problem only to cause another to appear =( I tried everything too, but alas, I've pretty much given up on Soy & I'm going with Palm instead. I cop the "You're the only one who notices those things, no one will see!" too. But I want to make the best & I want to be proud of what I've done!! Anyway, Good Luck... I'm sorry you feel so frustrated... happens to us ALL =)
  5. ahhh Stella! You said "Candles are systems. All the different components - dye, wax, FO, additives, wicks, containers play a role in obtaining the best scent throw and burn qualities. Each person has to find the combo that works best for them. " So so true... & everyone, in the beginning, says "Oh! It's SO EASY!" I swear the more I learn the more questions I have! Ho Hum.
  6. Hi! No, I haven't tried them but the description sounds pretty good! Hope someone who has comes along to let you know.
  7. Ummm... you could try cooling the candle slower than you have been (but unless you want to change it's appearance, DON'T do this by putting it in the fridge!) The only other solution is as many have pointed out above, you'll have to do a second pour!
