  1. I have poured when wax was solidifying on the sides of my pour pot.. this didn't work so well as I lost wax weight.. I am going to try again with 464 but will also try the ecosoya just to have that comparison.. I will def update everyone on my trials.. should be arriving tonight
  2. I realize that I should try to master the 464 and I have enough left to do that.. But I see no harm in trying another wax to compare it to.. I may even try to mix the two together and see what happens..
  3. Ahhh.. It feels like a family here.. I appreciate all of the help.. Jar - 8 oz Libbey Status Jar - 3" diameter Wick - Eco 14 FO - All from CS except one from CW (I can name all of them if you want) Wax Heating Temp - 175 to 185 Add FO and Dye - I have tried adding at 150 on the way up to 180 and also adding at 180 and dropping off the heat Pour Temps - 150, 130, 110, 100, 90 Jars were heated at the 150 and 130 pours and were not heated at the 100 and 90 pours I found that at the higher pour temps more air bubbles/pockets appeared and wet spots appeared at the lower temps... In the middle were just some realllllly ugly looking candles with various issues.. I am not frustrated.. Loving every minute of candle making so slow and steady will get me to a good candle
  4. Ive been testing with GB 464 and thought I finally got the hang of it.. After 8 different groups of test pours, each one had a different issue.. From large air pockets, to frosting, and finally the latest poor glass adhesion.. Ive finally decided to switch waxes and just try out the more expensive Ecosoya CB Advanced.. If anyone has done similar to this feel free to let me know your opinion.. CS claims for this wax to "resist frosting, have a smooth top surface and an even smooth burn pool with consistent color retention". Seems to be the solution to all of my problems.
  5. Going to try an HTP 52.. might be a little too much and might have to back it down to a 41.. We will see
  6. Using Ecosoya PB Pillar Blend with LX 14's as noted by CS and they seem to be underwicked as a slight tunnel forms and then implodes as it burns down. Anyone have any ideas for a better wick for this wax in votives??? Thanks!!!
  7. Thanks! I feel like I have mastered the 464.. Finally got a good pouring temp and FO%/Dye addition temp to get rid of the frosting and post light air bubble issues... Gee this is exciting!!!
  8. I'm having an issue with dancing flame and minor sooting in my Libbey Lucid 8 oz jars.. anybody encountered this before? Using ECO 14 in GB 464.. I know I have to wick up on this as I'm not reaching the sides.. would that help at all? Thanks in advance.
  9. Thanks!!! I will put the top on then.. Clears up the clutter
  10. Do you do it with or without a top on your jars? Or does it even matter??? Pouring a GB 464 and am on my 8th group of test pours.. Still searching for that perfect soy candle
  11. That is def. an art that you have there. I would think your business is doing quite well for three years young.. Congrats!
  12. There seems to be a big difference between the product in the video and coyercandles.. I must say those are the best dam marbles I have ever seen.. they must have a perfected technique
  13. Thanks for the video!! Doesnt seem too difficult.. Ill have to order some liquid dye and try this out.. Will update if and when i do that
  14. Can anyone give me the best/cheapest place to purchase packing in various sizes.. I would like to imprint a logo on the boxes as well. thanks in advance for the help.
  15. Anyone know of a thread or any information on instructions to marbling a soy? Thanks in advance.
  16. After a week of waiting for cure.. We finally have HT.. Ahhh what a feeling.. Definitely a milestone! This is the love spell scent that is engulfing my home at this very moment! I must admit, some of you have helped me get to this point.. Keep up the good work
  17. That was great!!! Thanks for the post!!! Crazy part is.. He makes lighting a jar of vicks look good:laugh2:
  18. I washed each on of them and dried with a papertowel.. Hopefully this doesn't happen too much but I will read up on the information arleady posted on this forum to try to find the issue.. Thanks for all the advice!!!
  19. Using GB 464.. Heated up to 150 and then put dye and FO in.. Heated up to 180-185 and backed off the heat.. Let cool down to 150 and poured hot.. I tried using the manufacturers recs on another pour a week ago and did the heat to 180 and added dye and FO and backed off to cool to 130 and poured cooler.. The tops were all mangled with moon craters so I went with a hot pour and it worked quite well except for this frosting on one of them.. Funny thing was, i did two pours with this FO.. One in this jar and one in a mason jar at the same time.. The mason jar is perfect and this one.. Well, not so much
  20. This only happened in 1 or 2 of my jars out of 12.. I am new to this so bear with me if it is an obvious issue.. Thanks a bunch in advance.
  21. I actually didn't think of that. I will start out there and see how it looks. Thanks for the idea!
  22. I really like the looks of these 5" bowls that I am making but I still haven't found any info on covers for them. I would really appreciate any advice.
  23. So I am in the testing phase and poured last night. I am very pleased with the candles that I produced. Here is a picture of the finished product. All of the tops came out nice and smooth except for the Cranberry Marmalade. Not sure what the issue is there but I plan to change up the pouring pattern for that scent next time to see if I can figure it out. The scents that were tested were: Strudel and Spice Cranberry Marmalade Love Spell Patchouli Lime Coconut Hydrangea
  24. Im using GB 464 soy wax. I was thinking 3 - ECO 10 wicks but thats just by playing some numbers. I have looked all over for lids but haven't been able to find any. And I thought google could help me do anything. If anyone can find them, it would be trulllly appreciated
