  1. I ordered the following from that Kentucky place after reading about tarts. I just gotta try some since I have 3 warmers and all my family and friends have warmers!!

    Ky-ParaSoy Tart Wax 5 lb :

    Zucchini Bread 2 oz :

    Vanilla Lime 2 oz

    Lumberjack 2 oz

    Country Gift Shop 2 oz

    Sugar Cookie 2 oz

    Sunrise Splash 2 oz

    Honeysuckle 2 oz

    Sage and Sweetgrass 2 oz

    Mandarin Spice 2 oz

    Moonlight Magic 2 oz

    Ocean Mist 2 oz

    Warm-n-Cozy 2 oz

Then I was going to order from BC South, but they didn't have clamshells and my dumb butt didn't think to put them on the KY order....so I ended up placing an order from BC North:

    Clamshells

    IGI Paraflex 4794 and 4786

    CD and HTP wick samplers

    CD 4, 5 and 2's

    votive molds

    Amber Musk

    Amber Woods

    Clean Cotton

    Fresh Brewed coffee

    Juniper Breeze

    Pomegranate

    Spring Rain

    Sugar Cookie

    Sunset

    Tidal Wave

    (fo's all 1 oz'ers)

Double boiler maker (I just use a pot and my pouring pot on top of a cookie cutter, getting darn tired of that cookie cutter!)

Blue, Red and Yellow dye chips

    pipettes

I have some liquid color from Hobby Lobby and was just going to use it at first, but then questioned if it was as crappy as their fragrance oils and stuff, so did get the 3 basic colors. And it also looks like my dumb butt left off the tealight cups, ARRGGHHHH!

So how'd I do for a first order to start testing?? Any recommendations? Should I of gotten vybar or uv stabilizer???

  2. I'm with Steve in that they are wanting you to raise so people won't just shop from your site instead of them. but, for me, I don't know. I have a problem with someone that is wanting my product trying to tell me, well I want it, but if I'm going to carry it then you have to change how you've been doing your business to please me. I know I"m such a noob and have no idea how this stuff works but I just don't get a client telling you how to run your business?

Of course the option of sales is always there. But think of how we are when our suppliers raise their prices, we get a little upset. I would think you would have to have some way of letting your regulars know what you are doing with the price raise but yet sales will keep them at the price they are use to? a 4 buck increase seems quiet a bit all at once and may shock a few.

Just my 2 cents that is worth, oh I'd say mud?

  3. I don't know if it had to do with the size of the jars (even their 8 oz was a short squatty little guy, 4 oz was single) but that is one of the things I loved about GC, the double wick. Yeah, I guess it is more fire, but it was also more points of lights. I can be a little strange though!! I only have 42 different candles throughout my house as well as 3 warmers!! I love it when its evening and all the candles are lit!!!

  4. They are tabbed wicks. And they just lift up from the bottom and turn sideways and keep right on burning! I'm seriously going to have to take some pics for ya'll!! I figure one of them has to do with the holder, I have a circular holder on my wall and like the center holder gets heated from the holder under it. But it also happens on the ones in my bathroom, my nightstand, etc. I just cleaned 30 votive jars and now I'm tempted to go fill em up with what I have left of PL's just so I can post pics. It's also not uncommon for me to just burn a votive, afternoon to bedtime.

  5. Don't cringe yet!! I used to burn gold canyon candles. The votives came individual and I rarely had a problem putting them in any style votive holder I had. Some of the bigger ones, yeah, it would get to big and lose the wick. But rarely did the wick "float" away. Then I went to partylite. Their wicks are removable so you could have the votive flat end up or point end up (for their different holders) and I don't care what holder I put it in (unless it was real tight) those wicks floated like crazy!! I had a votive holder break because the wick floated to the side. This was more likely to happen when the votive was about half used because then it would become all liquid. I've read where some of you wick and pour and others use wick pins. So how do you avoid these floating wicks?

  6. Don't take me wrong, I do care, but I've got a husband, a 16 yr old and a 14 yr old that can also do this duty. I fractured my spine and have never been the same since and doing the front kills me as it is. And although it may not make a difference, all my doggies are fixed, fully vaccinated, heart guard, etc. My vet loves me!! Their allergy meds alone keeps his wife in shopping heaven I think!! The littles also have clothes, they are my babies as much as my boys, I just want these boys to help out since they each have their "own" dog. We're also fully fenced completely around the house :)

  7. I don't know if I can explain it very well, because I really don't get it, but see it if that makes sense. I had a "smartphone" with sprint, although not the level of these iphones and all that, we're talking lower level smart phone. I could check my email in it, but newsletters and stuff just didn't work well with that phone. And here's another example. I'm a Keurig person and I couldn't get on their website and order with my phone, but my cousin with the iphone sure could. she could probably open newsletter type email on hers too!

  8. ya know, with 2 bigger dogs and 3 littles, my back yard is a doggie poo minefield! and it gets traversed daily for trash take out duty, and griped bout, course I don't take care of the back yard, the 3 guys in this house are more than welcome to clean it up!! I take care of the front yard, they can do something for criminy sake! oops, little rant there, anyway, if anyone needs practice maneuvering said minefield, my backyard is perfect!!

  9. It doesn't seem to be caused as a side effect to any of the meds. More just a teen/oily skin/ genetic thing. It seems very resistant to the current regime. The doxycycline addition did help clear it up off his back and stuff, but the face, when it flairs is just bad. I appreciate the input and will keep my fingers crossed!

  10. Thank you so much for clarifying the fp myth for me!! I knew flash point means the point it would "catch fire", but my little mind just kind of equated that to "burning" and thought well, yeah, just like cooking oil gets to hot and you can burn it and ruin it, I guess you could do that to fo. Now remember, I am only in my researching stage to progress to experimenting next month (I don't count those crappy hobby lobby things!), but I did get to not put my fo in till right before pouring, but what I didn't know till coming here was to stir it in for a full 2 minutes! So glad I found this place!

  11. Hello everyone! I'm a newbie on here over on the candle side. I must admit I adore looking at all the soap pics though!!! I was just reading through the forum earlier and now I can't find it, so I thought I'd post and ask. I'm looking for some good acne products for my 16 yr old. Let me give some background, he has epilepsy, a bleeding disorder, asthma and allergies, and an IgG 3 and 4 Immune Def. They currently have him on a high dosage of doxycycline (antibiotic) and prescription face cream at the moment. I have him wash with murad. He goes through bouts where it will start clearing up for maybe about a week, then it is bad again. It is all over his face, but I don't think it's the cystic acne. the next step is a 3 hour drive to a dermatologist and probably some meds that I won't be happy about (he already has to take so many and has such a strong history of them due to the immune deficiency). I am willing to purchase from someone who makes a good one? Reviews? Recommendations? Anything?

    TIA

PS I can direct you to my facebook page (although you'd have to friend request) if you wanted to see what it looked like

  12. I have a Scentsy warmer, hate their scents, I have a Gold Canyon warmer, love their scents but not near as good as their candles and I have a PartyLite warmer and love their tarts although they just changed their packaging/pricing. Gold Canyon comes in little plastic containers so you can't necessarily burn them on one of the others. PL tarts burn just fine in Scentsy warmers but not in gold canyon without the adapter. BTW, Gold Canyon came out with a little ceramic adapter to place on their warmers to burn oil in. Can't wait to start making my own and comparing!!

  13. This brings me to a question that I have. No amount of research can necessarily be better than experience. I have read that you do not want to add your fo at a temp higher than its flashpoint as it will cook it out. Is that true???

PS sorry for hijacking the thread

  14. As a fellow Texan Welcome to the Board! There is a wealth of info and help here...:smiley2:

what part of Texas are you from Kyme? and here is a newbie question that I've looked in FAQ, sticky's etc and can't find an answer to, I can't access people's profiles (like i was going to check kyme's to see what part of texas), not can i look in the swap area, coop area, etc. Do I need to have a certain number of posts or something?

PS I live in the windy flatlands of Amarillo :)
