  1. Anyone have any experience using the Handmake Store from WSP website?  Just happened to see it, and made me curious.

Thank you all for the information- this forum is such a wealth of knowledge and experience!  Truly an inspiration for me!  I'm just making lotion/wax melts and firestarters for me and friends, but would love to sell at some point. Have looked into Etsy, ebay, may check amazon now.  Need a creative outlet in my life- something keeps drawing me back to wax and scent products!

TT- I love your advice to find your niche, and I needed to hear that it can take some time to find that. I think many of us need to be reminded of this. Still searching and maybe I have to just jump in and sell, and hang on for the ride!  thanks again everyone- you are awesome!  I don't post very often, but I look and read often!

  2. I have been on a journey to find the "perfect" vanilla, and that is what actually got me started, and now addicted to fo's lol.  I love the french vanilla Camille Beckman hand cream, and have been trying to find a replacement for years.  The closest I have found is Vanilla Snowflake from AH.  It's a rich buttery, sweet type of vanilla.  So many vanilla's tend to have a chemical note to my nose, so I've leaned more to the bakery vanillas, but it is a hard one to find, and I'm picky with my vanilla scents.  I do love Vanilla Voodoo from CC, but I like it better in wax than in my lotion.  I've also tried Vanillary from FB and bescented, which seem to me to be a more upscale type of vanilla.  I don't like a lot of the french vanillas out there, and I'm working on mixing some scents together to get a good combination if possible.  Everyone's nose and tastes are different which always intrigues me.  Daystar's Buttercream Frosting is a wonderful vanilla scent, but again I like it much better in wax, and not in lotion, it has a strange note in the lotion application.  Some of the Birthday Cake fo's are really good as well, Peak and AH have wonderful birthday cakes (but only in wax). Toasted Marshmallow from AH also seems to have quite a vanilla scent to me also.  Sorry for the long post- but I too have been on the hunt for the perfect vanilla!

  3. I've used this wax mixed with 464, poured into the plastic portion cups without any issue, plastic doesn't melt.(pouring around 155-160, if you wait too much longer it starts setting up). Still has the pretty crystal patterns too. Love the palm as it pops out of the portion cup and the melter so easily, other molds would work too I bet.

  4. It makes me sad though, Peak was the company where I bought my first kit, waxes and fragrance oils- which helped me start on this journey.  I haven't ordered from them recently, mainly because they no longer carried the palm waxes and I have been wanting to test and use those, and then I was getting concerned when many fo's were out of stock recently too.  Hope they can turn is around and get the business back and running, but I understand everyone's concerns- makes me realize as others have said, the importance of having other companies to go to for supplies and not just rely on one company.

  5. I am probably the last person on earth to have not tried Sugar Cookie Royale, and so I bit the bullet, and placed an order with FB!  (thank you friends!)  I ordered: Silk, Buttercream Crunch Cake, Buttercream Frosting, Sugar Cookie FB signature, Sugar Cookie Royale, Vanilla Showers, Pomander Spice, Citrus Shower, Let them eat cake, Pumpkin Pecan Waffles, Pumpkin Sugar Doughnuts, Apple Cider, Baby Grace, Citrus Splash, Fairy Fresh, Citrus Linen, Coeur Shower, and Honey Clementine.

I was on a mission to try to find some of the philosophy scents, and want to use them in my lotion and soap (I was finding that the scent was not lasting with some of their lotions which was disappointing, especially with the cost of their products!).  I also want to also try some room freshener sprays, so wanted to try some citrus and fresh scents.  Of course they only had one philosophy scent, but had to justify the shipping.   Just had to share, I'm so excited to try these- I have never ordered from FB so this will be fun!!   I knew you would all understand :)  I know I don't post very often, but I do consider you all part of my fragrance hoarding tribe!!   Hope you are all having a wonderful summer!

  6. I just ordered a few 1 oz'ers from them with a sale, and the coconut wax, as they are in my same town and thought I could pick up the order, but come to find out they don't have pick up available which is frustrating.  They plan to set up a pick up place, but want a $400 minimum, which seems high to me.  I'll let you know my thoughts after I get my order and put in wax....

  7. Moonstar, I don't use vanilla stabilizer in my lotion, and the coconut milk fo does not make it turn brown.  I use a lot of vanilla scents, they are my favorite, and have not had much of an issue with discoloration with lotion.  I do however notice it with melt and pour soap, it will turn tan/brown with some fo's, just haven't tested using the vanilla stabilizer yet, but maybe I should.  I'm just making these for me and family/friends, not selling, and I don't mind the discoloration.
