  1. I know the process of testing, but what I am asking is what is your setup. How many candles do you test at one time? How far apart do you keep them? Do you test the melt pool and the scent throw separately or at the same time? Would love some input on this. I have been making 1 scent in 1 size container, then using 2-4 different wicks. Then when testing I light them at the same time in different rooms. I have been doing this with about 4 sets at a time. I have a small condo and really need a faster set up. Any advice or ideas.
  2. Where on EBAY did you get yours? My BF got me a gift card to EBAY so I could get one. Just wanted to see if anyone bought one from the supplier I am looking at? It seems it is the same price. I am also curious of the safety of the unit. Thanks
  3. Well I was up late last night and was frustrated with Excel so I actually made the purchase but they are asking for personal info and business numbers that I don't have and I got a little nervous. But I can be a bit paranoid.
  4. And can you let me know what you think of it? I don't quite have a business yet but would like to start keeping track of things ahead of the game. THanks.
  5. Yeah I get air bubbles that show up only after the candle has been lit. Sometimes even after burning for a while. And to answer one of your responses from another of my posts. Believe me all I have been doing is TEST TEST TESTing! My DB (I guess thats Dear Boyfriend) anyway he swears I just like testing because I am a science lab geek. But, yeah I know and I am actually working on a system. I wish someone would post a thread for spreadsheets or point me to some. I have been working on them all day. I DID do a search and usually if I am asking I already searched and didnt find what I was looking for. Thanks. PEACE
  6. My answer is Yes. But I'm not really sure where to go from there. Or how many different sizes and scents I should have mastered before selling one.
  7. Basically, How do you know when to start selling? I know even 6 months into this I am very new. I truly was hoping to sell some jars at least on Ebay by the holiday season. Unfortunately, I only have about 5 candle combos that I am happy with. I am actually on the name and label stage. I am wondering is there a link or thread I could be directed to that has a basic "when to sell" guide?
  8. This may be a silly question and I'm sure I have read the answer somewhere, but when naming your candles are we supposed to make up our own names or do we have to keep the name of the FO? Is there anything else I should know when naming candles?
  9. well I am not really asking for a specific number , just in general how do I adjust for this. I am using Ecosoy cb avd. But different FOs and such. I usually pour at 115-120 but with the temp going so low at night I am not sure.
  10. If you find out let me know. I am looking for them also. I have not been able to find the ones with the feet anywhere else, but I have only been at this for 6months.
  11. Do I pour hotter when its colder? We leave the temp at about 66 overnight. What should I do when cooling my candles overnight in cold temps? My BF almost died when he came home to the heat cranked up to 75 yesterday. After I was done making candles I had to sit in front of the fan. Does the room need to be that hot or is there a way to compensate? This is my first cold season. I live in NJ.
  12. Yes, as a running joke to myself, I call them "door presents":p
  13. Hello all. I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I am pretty new to this hobby and am hoping to turn it in to a small business. I have been reading the posts and everyone seems so helpful. My name is Amy and I make scented and colored soy container candles. I have never had a hobby that I so enjoyed. Like just about everyone else, I started and thought "wow, this is so simple, why doesn't everyone make their own candles." Now 200lbs of wax and $$$$ later I realize it takes more then just melt and pour. Of course I jumped in head first with out a system, but I am much more organized now. I started in April and I still don't have one complete candle. At the label part now. I better get moving though since my mother just made my first order! Anyway, hope to chat with everyone and learn from each other as much as we can. Sorry I am rambling, I am tired and excited as I just received a large order of supplies. Good Night!:smiley2:
  14. I wipe them with paper towels and then spray with alcohol and wipe again.
