  1. Thanks so much for your replies! I haven't been on the board in a few days. I haven't had a chance to call them yet, and it still hasn't posted to my CC. I'm going to try to call them tomorrow if I get a free minute. I appreciate you sharing your prices. I was thinking about going $16 or $18 for the illumination warmers and $14 for the plug-ins. I don't have the plug-ins yet, but I want them reeeeally bad! I live in Scentsy-land USA so I think people would jump at the chance to get an illumination warmer that's the same size (if not slightly bigger) as Scentsy's for half the price!
  2. NaturallyTru, I paid by credit card and it has not posted yet. I ordered them on 1/25. I'm not sure how long it takes to post because I very rarely use credit cards. Pleasureridgecandles, that is what I would do, but I don't know the total amount I was charged, only the charges for the warmers. I'm just wondering if this is normal or if they just forgot something. I'm going to contact them tomorrow and see what they say. I also thought maybe I wasn't looking in the right place for the info. Thank you!
  3. Thank you very much for your replies! I appreciate it! The packing slip was on the very top when I opened the box, however, it doesn't even show a subtotal or total. It just shows the quantity, description, and price of each item I ordered. It's the same thing that shows in my Order History on their site, except on the site it gives the subtotal before shipping and is showing $0.00 for shipping. I received an order confirmation e-mail directly after I placed my order, but it's also the same thing as what's in the Order History. I have a rough idea of the cost just by going to the UPS site and typing in the zip codes and box weight. I just wanted to know for sure and if there was someplace I wasn't looking. I'd have called them already but I saw that they are only available M-F until 5.
  4. I just received my very 1st order from Candlewarmers and I'm trying to figure out pricing on the warmers, BUT...I have no idea how much they charged me for shipping. It didn't show on the packing slip, nor is it showing on their site. It hasn't shown up on my CC yet either. I have customers who want to buy these babies and I don't want to short myself. Can anybody tell me where to find the shipping charges, or do I have to just wait until it shows on my CC statement? TIA!
  5. Oh wow. That's not bad at all then. I must have read it wrong then. Thank you!
  6. This is so not what I wanted to hear, folks! I just received my very first order from them and I fell in love with the warmers. I tested them all to make sure the bulbs work before I sell them, so hopefully they don't burn out after a month! Now I'm worried and will need to re-think my return/exchange policy. I signed up with OBI but it sounds like their shipping costs are kinda high and they recommend a $300-$500 order to keep them low...I can't afford that.
  7. That is awesome! What are the shipping charges like with OBI? I applied for an account with them yesterday and I think that's who I'll go through from now on also.
  8. It's funny. Maybe an hour after I posted, I "mysteriously" got a tracking number from UPS for my order. I guess you just hafta get on 'em to get anywhere. Too late to cancel, I guess. I better like these warmers!
  9. I'm in the same boat, although I submitted my order and am just "hoping" for the best. I only ordered a tiny amount because I didn't know the shipping charges. I'm not real happy with them right now, I can tell you that much. I ordered my warmers 2 weeks ago along with other things from 3 other suppliers and I've received everything but the warmers, so I finally e-mailed them yesterday to find out where my warmers are since their site says orders are normally shipped within 3-5 days of receipt. They replied saying they had shows all last month and are behind due to the volume from those shows. They said my order is "typed up" and I'll receive tracking once it leaves the warehouse. But no estimate on time. I'm not sure if I'll do business with them again. :undecided
  10. Phooey on not hearing back from them! I hope you have by now. Wow...that's surprising to me that they'd sell cracked ones so well. I don't think I'd buy something like that, but that's just me and I'm picky! lol.
  11. I hope you can get it sorted out and that they will give you credit or something for it. Let us know what happens! I'm really curious!
  12. I've only done the double boiler method, and frankly, it bores me! LOL. I'm really thinking about making a presto pot. It's basically a deep fryer (with an adjustable temp setting) that you drill a hole into and add a spout to pour your wax after heating. They run about $20-25 bucks at Target/Wal-Mart, etc. Here is information about how to make them from Candle Tech - http://www.candletech.com/general-information/do-it-yourself-wax-melter/ , or you can get them already made, as Travis said.
  13. Ok, here's the verdict as I promised - It worked!! Filling to almost overflowing + Letting them sit open for 20-24 hours to cure = Problem SOLVED!! Thanks to everyone who offered their advice!! You all are the best!!!
  14. Thanks, IwantItgreen! I will look into that if these don't work out! I agree that the PB alone is too brittle. The ones I've made so far are gorgeous and smell great so far, so I hope I don't have to switch waxes! Hehe. Judy, I also hope this isn't the case! I just checked them after letting them sit all night and 2 from the first batch from last night have slight cracks at a couple corners of the whole big compartment, if that makes sense. Nothing scary at all like it was. There was only 1 from the last batch that had that. I closed 1 from each batch and no cracks!! So I'm crossing my fingers for the rest of them. I'm going to let them sit a little longer because I'm paranoid - lol - but I will post my final results just in case someone else out there searches for this topic.
  15. I'm new to this also. It's fun, isn't it?!? With mine I just heat my oven to 170 (that's the lowest mine will go), line a baking sheet with tin foil, put my pot upside down, plus my metal spoon, and leave it in there just long enough for the wax to melt. Then I wipe off any residue left over with paper towels.
  16. I am pouring mine at 140. The clamshells I'm using are these http://newcart.candlesandsupplies.com/Store/Products/Candles/PID-CLAM-6T.aspx from Candles and Supplies. I am going to see how these 2 batches I did tonight turn out when I go to close them tomorrow and then I'll post results. They smell absolutely delicious and I'm going batty keeping myself from touching them!!
  17. Shoot. I'm not even sure if a blow dryer will help mine. It seems like once they start cracking, they just keep on. I just got done making 2 more batches. I made sure to fill them up full! I'm not touching them or even looking at them until tomorrow!! I left the lids open and will close them after letting them sit for about 24 hours. Did you figure out what's up with the white flakes in your wax?
  18. Oh no! I hope I didn't cause you to waste if you got bad wax! I just looked at my bag of CB135 and it looks normal to me...no extremely white flakes. I hope you didn't get a bad bag! I am going to hopefully try another batch today and fill them to almost overflowing (didn't realize I wasn't filling them all the way up), and I'll post my results. Thanks so much for all your help!
  19. Thanks Judy! I wonder if maybe I'm not filling them full enough then? That makes total sense about them cracking from just a thin layer. I just looked at them again and there's about 1/8" difference between the top (of the 6-cavity compartment) and the top of the wax. I didn't realize I was doing this, so I think I'll try another batch and fill them to almost overflowing and see if it happens again and go from there. I'll try to do it today and post my results. Thanks again!
  20. That would be awesome!! Thank you! I knew I shoulda kept my paws off of them for longer...!!
  21. I just started making wickless melts and pouring into clamshells. This is my first time making candles in about 12 or so years. In my first batch, I used straight Ecosoya PB (heated to 175, added color & FO, poured around 140). I let them sit until they were hard and then closed the lids. The next morning I opened one to smell it and it developed a crack around 1 of the cavities. I read on here that some of you mix your PB with CB-135 to help harden it up, so I ordered some and received it today. In my 2nd batch I used 75% PB and 25% CB-135 (heated to about 180, added color & FO, and poured around 140). I let them sit for about 6 hours open and then went to close the lids and OMG...cracks like crazy after closing them! What could I be doing wrong? Should I do a 50/50 mixture instead of 75/25? Any suggestions would be great, as I can't really find a ton of info about mixing the two waxes. Thanks so much to anyone who can help me!
  22. Wow, thanks everyone! I am pretty set on going with the KY wax, but I was browsing different supply stores online and came across The Candle Maker's Store and found a starter kit for soy clamshells (http://www.thecandlemakersstore.com/product/KITSTARTSOYTART), which I think I will try just to see if I like it. They also have fragrance samplers where you get 10 1oz. fragrance oils for $14.99. I am going to go research them now to see what people are saying about them, as I don't recall seeing them mentioned here, but I may have overlooked it. Thanks everyone for taking the time to answer me! Y'all are so helpful!!
  23. Thanks so much! I think I am going to try the KY parasoy tart & votive wax! I've been looking at their oils and I have waaay too big of a list already. I'm in love with Fall/Christmas scents! Thank you again!
  24. Thank you both so much for your replies! Also, thanks for the heads-up on the yummy scents and the palm wax! This addiction is already turning into an obsession and I haven't even started it yet! Is that bad? Hehe. I just remember as a kid/teenager, I loved making candles and I don't know why I ever stopped. This might be a really stupid question, so please forgive me, but if the wax is a multiple pour, is a repour necessary for the clamshells? Thank you again! I really appreciate your help!
  25. Hi everyone! I'm new here, but have read all 38 pages of posts in this particular forum to try and find an answer, and I've gained a lot of knowledge, but I'm still a little confused. I'm guessing it boils down to personal preference, BUT... I am planning on making "clamshell melts" and keeping them in the clamshells for packaging. I am wondering what the best type of wax for this would be? I obviously want a long-lasting scent with a good scent throw and a creamy look to them. The following waxes are what I've come up with from reading the posts through this forum: KY parasoy tart & votive wax OK6228 & J223 (50/50 mixture) CBL129 Also, would palm wax work, or would it be too hot to be poured into the clamshells? Any advice or help I can get with this would be amazing!! I made candles as a kid, but used the cheap colored wax crystals from Wal-Mart...nothing like this. I'd like to be 100% sure before I go and buy anything, since I'd have to buy it all online and have it shipped. I don't live close to anybody that sells anything I need for this except the melting pot. Sad, I know. Thank you so much!!
