  1. I'm about to order pretty much this same list from Bitter Creek, except for that WAP because I have no idea what that is ("Wild Ass Pumpkin"?????). "All Hallows Eve" smelling like bubble gum is pretty much what I've come to expect from this from everybody; I think it's the combination of the certain sweet fruits generally used in this blend ends up like bubble gum, but this sounds better to me if it has a licorice note!

If I remember right, some of you were saying the had the best mulberry too. What else do I need to look at there?

On a related note, have any of you found a pumpkin musk, or tried mixing your own? I'm wondering how that would be.

That would be Warm Apple Pie (I think). They say the mind goes first.

  2. Yes it is EL soy wax pastilles- the recipe calls them scented soy drops or soy beads

Did you try putting them in a tart warmer at all? Or just in a normal bowl - I want to try it but I am having a hard time believing FO can just soak into wax beads without melting and give off a decent hot throw- but if it does work I think it may be a cool new thing to add in a few scents to see how it goes

I did not put them in a warmer. Just put them in a bowl. I remember when I first read about them, I had doubts too. There was scent there, just not enough to fill a room, so they did soak the FO into the pastilles, but it did take several days for them to do that. I'm not sure if I would go out and buy them to do it, but if I had some on hand, I'd try it again.

HTH and GL. Let us know if they work out for you.

  3. Has anyone tried making the scent beads from candlesoylutions?

I am curious if they throw good after soaking them in scent- I have tried bean pods little beads and they didn't throw that great but like the concept- if it can work

If they are made from EL soy, I did try it a couple years ago. The scent took pretty good but I had trouble getting them colored anymore than very pastel. Had them in a bowl to see if they scented the room, but they only scented directly around the area the bowl was.

It could have been something I did wrong where they needed more FO or something. I do remember putting them in a plastic bag and having to smoosh the dye, FO and soy bead mixture around a couple times a day until they absorbed most of it. I think they soaked for maybe 3-5 days before I took them out, if I'm remembering right.

  4. I've bought from Rustic Escentuals and NG and to me NG's is a little stronger. I don't think ICS carries it anymore, or she didn't the last time I checked.

    Belinda

I don't know what it is supposed to smell like. I do have AH/RE here and didn't get a sweet corn/pudding out of it. Might have been my nose.

  6. JS is one of my main suppliers..I LOVE her ICSB (ice cream scoop bread) it is AMAZING and strong!(imo) I buy Serendipity there as well and have had no complaints! ;) Off to her site to look for a Lollipop fo..anyone know where to find a strong one let me know! TY!

Thank you very much! Now I'll order a little larger size than I was going to originally get just to test. I'm hearing so many people rave about these ice cream/breads in melts and it seems JS just may be the place some vendors are getting the FO.

  7. I think it is because of so much air flow coming into the jar we have problems with them....maybe. I'm not really sure but I do find in the country comfort or apothecary, they are much easier to wick plus have much better HT....IMO.

I had concerns about the DT jars but don't anymore after testing where I couldn't begin to count the number of times the same jar is used over and over again.

Great holiday weekend to you and your family too! :)

  8. I prefer using jelly jars for several reasons, but have worked with Prestige jars quite a bit

Oh Dave...someone who has also used the Prestige jars has posted. Have you, by chance, tried Dollar Tree Status as well? Reason I am asking is I have found the Prestige jars heat up much more than the DT Status. Threw my wicking all off. I'm not saying they are a bad jar by any means, 'cause I don't think they are. They are nice and heavy, seem to be very good quality but is like I have to start over wicking the same jar.

  9. Oh! PLEASE do share if you find that sweet Blackberry! I promise to do the same.

I am melting my way through some others from JS.

Those that I like already: Cinnamon Cider (VERY similar to Community Mulled Cider and Gold Canyon's Mulled Cider) and Caramel Spice.

Good to know! I am going to be placing an order with JS at some point in the near future. I've read too many good reviews to not. Want to try some of her ice cream or bread FOs. You know, the sweet ones....lol.

  10. Well, rather than arriving Saturday, the package arived Friday!

Today the owner emailed me to ensure it arrived safely. First Class supplier in my book.

I have it in wax and it is a nice FO. It is not the Blackberry I have been seeking. For those who love DS Blackberry Jam Butter Cookie (everyone on the planet except me), this is up your alley. Like DS BJBC, rather than sweet I get tart, sharp and almost bitter. I get ZERO pie from the FO. Since I have a pound, I plan to mix half melts of what I made with other cake and cookie FO's to see if I can get a sweeter Blackberry Cobbler/Pie/Cake.

I am admittedly very picky and I like my FO's very sweet. I swear I must smell things much less sweet than a normal person.

Well, JaJC...I'm looking for what sounds to be exactly what you are. If I find it, I'll be sure to let you know. I want blackberry pie or blackberry sundae...anything with a sweet or bakery note to it.

How rude of me....Forgot to thank you for giving us a review....So, thank you!

  11. Give it a try Jeanie! There's nothing like hands-on experience to teach us what each wax will do!

For the fragrances I use, I get excellent HT in 464.

I worked with it for about a year along with 444. Used Eco wicks. I've seen in posts where you say you get your FOs. There was one from there I liked a lot but will use other suppliers instead. There are some good ones that are going to be keepers for me. If I do give it a try again, I'll test with those. Do have some 464 and 444 left here from a recent wax buying spree. Never know what I may decide to play with next on any given day.

  12. Agreed. I am with you ALL the way!!

Your post reminded me of my going to the doctor with a face so swollen that I could barely open my eyes. Turned out it was a botanical/organic/natural skin cream. I objected and reminded him that it was organic and natural so it could not be that. He reminded me so are both poison ivy and arsenic. I got the point! I also got a heavy duty steroid.

This reminds me of why I've always thought if I'm going to purchase any B&B products, it will be from someone on this forum. I just don't trust just any person from Etsy or a random website of homemade products.

  13. Thanks Jeanie. I had no idea status jars could be different. I've now learned. Maybe that's why C&S has them on sale this weekend for 50% off. I'm also thinking that maybe that's why the wax is pulling away from the side - it was settling into the bottom. I may try pouring slightly cooler - instead of at 135, maybe 125 - 130.

Ya, I really don't know but thought the same as Chandler did. What is wrong with the jar? lol Prior to that, I didn't know they were different either.

I can tell you Peak Prestige (that are like Status) and DT Status do have solid glass on that bottom ledge of the jar, and the wax does not go in there.

Sure, play around with your pour temps to see if that helps. Pour temp can make a huge difference in how candles turn out, just not sure if that is what is going on by you or if it is the jar.

I've done heat gunning on the jar sides, using 415 soy, without any frosting issues but can't help with 464. I have the gun about 4"-6" away from the jar and keep it moving.

    HTH and GL.

  14. Hi Louanne and welcome to the addiction :) Your candle looks great.

I took a double take on your jar though 'cause all the Status/Prestige I've bought also have a solid bottom. It brings to light something for those of us who use that type jar to be careful of if purchasing from a different supplier.

  15. I was thinking of making some scoopable tarts. But I can't find any directions for making them. I am looking for a starting point. Any help would be great.

Me too! Want to make them multiple, complimenting scents but also cannot find any info on how to make them. I'm not exactly leaning toward tarts for the scoopable but a larger amount that would be put in a small container. Maybe a 3-5 oz souffle cup or something along those lines.

  16. PayPal is the same as Square. This is included in PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy:

    PROHIBITED ACTIVITES:

You may not use the PayPal service for activities that relate to transactions involving:

    2. ...(i) ammunition, firearms, or certain firearm parts or accessories, or (j) ,certain weapons or knives regulated under applicable law.

    My search continues...

ewwww....I did not read any of that 'cause we've used them for such a long time. Dang it!! Am going to have to keep them for eBay and personal payments to classies, etc., but will def. look for another option for everything else.

ETA: Just thinking about this a little more....So then, PayPal is telling us we cannot use our own credit cards or debit cards on file with PayPal to purchase any of those type items, when our bank lets us purchase whatever we choose with our money.

  17. I have square and after reading this I decided to sign up for Paypal. It won't let me finish the set up on my cell phone without entering my social security number. Even signing up as a business, it won't let me bypass the SS number with a Tax ID number. I'll call monday and see what's up with that but I WILL NOT give paypal and ebay my SS number.

I needed to make a new account for eBay and PayPal, so went ahead and did the initial stuff on home computer just now.

On PayPal, I made a business account as an individual and got through without a SS or tax ID. I do think somewhere along the line PayPal is going to want it cause of the new 1099 thing.

eBay just let me go right through.

ETA: Forgot to mention...Our other PayPal account had to have our SS cause we received one of those dandy 1099s last year.

  18. Wouldn't vegetable oil at that volume go rancid like it does in soap? I mean wax is solidified for a reason I'm sure, if you want Squirty wax buy some Gel wax. It just seems like there would be some "precautions" in vegetable wax sitting for a period of time and then being "thrown" into the air to breath if it had gone rancid.

I'd forgotten all about this as I've got my hands full making my own products, but gel could be an option, I guess. Only thing is gel solidifies too.

  19. I was just told that they use regular Veggie Oil added to a softer wax to get it more liquefied. So she will be making a killing off adding veggie cooking oil to her wax. WOW!!!

Hope she sells batches quick before the veggie oil goes rancid. Now I've really got an ick factor going on.........

  20. Is there a wax cleaner I need to have?

The wax residue may release by putting in refrig or freezer for a little bit.

As the others have mentioned, you need a tart or pillar wax to go with either the 4630 or 4627. 4794 or 4625 are two popular ones. 50/50 is a ratio you may like. It is one that many of us do use and works out fine in souffle cups, clamshells or tart molds.

    HTH and GL
