I sure hope she's not closing Darbia but you're right, she's been out of stock on several of her FO's for quite some time. I may have to message Stacy and ask her. I don't use a lot of her FO's but what I use have been great. She has some unique scents too. It would be a shame if she went out of business.

I'm concerned about DS.  I put in an order May 1.  I've tried to contact her by email, facebook, and text.  No reply at all.

Good to see you too!  I pop in from time to time but haven't posted at all.  I need to get back into it.  My scent shop has kept me busy but I should be on here more.  I've learned so much from this group!

I also pop in from time to time and learned everything I know thanks to this group and all of us helping each other over the years.  It was a lot of fun testing with others on here for many years.

Regarding Peak oils, I'm like many others sitting here wondering where I am going to find replacements for so many scents.  In a bit of a panic actually.

  3. I'm Sorry Trappeur, I meant Flaming Candle Corp, not Fillmore.

As far as ICS PPW, I'm not quite sure yet. It seems to be missing a bit of depth compared to the others.  However, my husband and grandson both say it seems to be the smoothest/pleasant one yet.

I've got some coming in from CandleSoylutions, VA Candle, and NorthStar.  I'll be ordering from JS and FB later this week or next.

So far, WSP has lasted the longest with the best HT, then ICS, with Flaming and Maple Street being about the same.

I'm using a blend of paraffin pillar and 4627.

  4. I'm glad MSCC worked out for you.  In my wax combo the melts didn't last the amount of time I want out of them. :(  FCC came closer to lasting and was a bit stronger, with WSP being the best so far.

I did pour ICS yesterday so will know how it does probably Monday. One thing about ICS tho' is it isn't skin safe.  I didn't realize that until the oil arrived here.

Will be ordering FB and JS yet to compare those to the rest.

  5. I have ICS PPW on the way.  I can chime in on my results if anyone is interested.  I have not tried FB or JS yet.  I have tried WSP, Maple Street and FCC.  I was very happy with WSP but am trying to find one a little less pricey with the same quality as TN.  What I am looking for is strong HT in candles and long lasting/strong in melts.

  6. So does the 4625 have those issues like the other waxes I have tried? Also does it have good scent throw?

I use 4625 for my melts as 50% of the blend, and by itself for pillars. IMO it has awesome HT. As lmc mentioned, it does need to be mixed with a softer wax (container) for proper melting in warmers. 464, 4630 or 4627 are all good waxes to blend in.

  7. I am sorry I misjudged the nature of the majority of this forum. I wrongly assumed most would be holistic- and nature-minded.

The nature of the majority of this forum would be to produce a good quality candle. Period. Whether one chooses paraffin, soy, palm or a combo does not make us right or wrong. Until/if they produce solid info that burning a paraffin candle is a true health hazard, many of us have no desire to abandon it. We have many on the forum who only produce soy candles as well. Basically, my point is IMO, we should respect the choice of each person and their wax decision.

  8. AH/RE. Their toasted marshmallow is great! I wear it as a body spray

    Me too! Love that stuff.

Have tried several now and AH is my favorite. As megandgarr mentioned, to my nose also, it does lack the smokiness many others have.

Just got ICS in and OOB it seems close to AH in sweetness with just a little bit less strength. That may change in wax.

  9. I do the 1" per hour rule. Once they pass that, then I do a power burn to make sure they pass that. If not, it is back to square one.

My DIL proved that only going by the 1" per hour rule, and power burns not exceptionally long can result in a cracked, overheated candle. She lit it up (as she always does) and let the candle burn. The wick eventually fell over from the deep MP, causing the side of the jar to have etched black in it as well as a crack.

She has cracked Slatkin glass, so while they seem to be wicked to achieve a full MP early for good HT, it could not withstand her power burning.

We have zero control how our candles are burned once they leave our hands and IMO, it is my responsibility to do everything I can to make sure the power burners out there aren't going to have a fire caused by one of my candles.

Now I power burn just like a customer might, by lighting the candle and just letting it burn away....all day long.

Also changed the prime on my wicks to very high MP from CW so they can withstand the heat (and not fall over) from a possible deep MP even though I wick to keep that from happening, I realized it is still possible.

  10. Can you share your method or system? How hot do you get your wax? When do you add FO, what FO did you use for test, etc. Your results are not at all what you should have gotten with the waxes you tested.

4625 is a great wax on its own, and is what I use for pillars. Love that stuff. When doing melts, and adding 4627 to the blend, the 4627 (in my experience) has enhanced the CT/HT.

Wonder if it is the FO?

  11. I've used them from their eBay store. No problems, fast shipping and the wax seems to me to be the same as I've purchased from Peak or any other supplier in the IGI/GB line.

What I did notice is their Eco wicks burn a little different than those from CW. I think that might be common with wick prime, etc. being different from supplier to supplier and why I have to get more wicks ordered from CW.

    I didn't try any FOs.

  12. Thank you! You would know if I would like it or not so thanks for the assessment!

Oh yes, that sweet tooth! :)

It would fullfil your need for a rich scent with depth but it is not sweet as in super sugary. It is a whipping cream type, with vanilla extract, sweetened with a bit of sugar to my nose. Hope that made sense.

  13. One thing I did find between the ones at Walmart vs Scentsy on the large size, is (at least some) the bulb is closer to the melting plate than Scentsy. I found they were burning the scent off faster, taking hours off the longevity. I have two large Scentsy warmers I use now only and am really happy with them. The square tray ones do not melt all the way into the corner on 1-2 sides (as mentioned) but the round ones have melted all the combos I've worked with so far...and it has been a LOT, including straight container palm.

I also have the type where the bowl sits on a warmer plate gifted from a generous member. :) That warmer does get really hot to where the melts last only 6-8 hours or so. I now use it to melt my candle jars down and it works perfect for that. It is a Candlewarmer brand http://www.candlewarmers.com/ProductDetail.aspx?prod=589

  14. You do know that even if TCS sends you some GREAT tart wax, they might break your heart later.

It seems I recall that a friend of mine posted she was finished with TCS wax. I'm not sure right now who that was, though.

What in the world could explain the mixture of different forms of the wax they are shipping? Can't they make up their mind or are they just sweeping the floor and boxing it up. I'd need to know before I bought any and began a major testing program.

    JMO

Good luck to all, though. I sincerely hope you've found the perfect wax for melts and the supplier never disappoints you again.

    Dave

Honestly, you hit that nail on the head! I put the CC back in its compartment after walking away for a cup of coffee and coming to my senses. Been there twice with that company, just now returning from a 2 month testing burnout, and quickly came to my senses.

ETA: My impulse shopping secret has been revealed. :)

  15. OK. My CC is out and I want to order. What is wrong with me?

I'm intrigued by the pellets, shreds and large globs...lol. Maybe they took all the waxes they had, put them all together and finally have a great blend back again?!!

Karen....The pellets (teardrops) we had were newly purchased, and distributed at the same time some others were receiving slabs and some receiving pellets, with it all supposedly the same wax.

Come on Ravens...let's do it! :)
