  1. Wow that is strange, I just ordered both of these the other day. No- to me they are totally different. The Amish Quilt has a way more cinnamon scent to it?
  2. Thanks for the tip! I'm going to try KY's and also NG's Coconut cream pie. I know there is a f.o section but I wanted to check specifically for fo's that work well in soy ... I use EcoSoya CB135
  3. Hi all- I know there is a post for fo's that throw in soy but I am having some awful luck trying to find a good cake or buttercream scent that not only throws but also smells delicious. Like a REAL cupcake or cake. I find the buttercreams I tried from NG and CS are bitter and really un-appetizing and the cake scents I have tried are all similar.
  4. Thanks for the fragrance twins link- This is expensive and it does take more time and investment then anyone could ever think. Good thing it is fun too!
  5. I tried- to me it smells like the pink bubble gum antibiotics kids get. Medicinal is a good adjective. I have been ordering from a couple suppliers now and I am hoping to find one that is more banana and fruity like because I think the name itself can make it a best seller. or not?
  6. I heard that Anthropologie has the most amazing candle scents- has anyone smelled them before or been able to duplicate them? Here are the descriptions, seems aloha may be easier to make but what are white blossoms? Aloha: freshly picked orchids, jasmine and gardenia, entwined with white blossoms Volcano: tropical fruits, sugared oranges, lemons, and limes, redolent with lightly exotic mountain greens
  7. I know this has probably been discussed before but I can't seem to find it. I notice that many sites have similar F.O names and descriptions. Of course with so many that is likely... For instance, I notice that many Nature's Garden scents can be found at other places, have strikingly similar scents when I compare them. I would say identical. Could many of these suppliers that we buy through just be getting the F.O's from the same wholesaler and cutting and packaging them? Do you know of any suppliers that have the same exact fragrances as each other? I was going to order Irish Green Tweed at NG and noticed the pretty much same thing at Aroma Haven... I know NG's scents don't always throw all that well for me so I was going to try the more expensive AH version but if they are the same....

  9. A repour as in melt more wax and try to match the same color and pour right on top? What I ended up doing for this one is using a hairdryer. I made a tinfoil tip myself and wrapped the wick with foi up since my last wick ended up all droopy after the hairdryer. It worked okay but was time consuming
  10. Thanks everyone, the strange thing is I just got another inquiry for samples for a countryside market. I suppose this person is smarter and knows they can't give a business address when they say countryside market. Maybe it's the same person since I told the last that we could only ship samples to store locations and to provide me with the address. I figured with the address I could get more info... I saw on another post that it happened to someone else where he a girl asked for samples and he found her on Facebook- she was a fan of a page called I like free things. I honestly think that many people out there are always looking for samples and freebies. Yes you are so correct. I think I will trash all email not asking for wholesale prices and off to find out how to make a wholesale form.
  11. My first customer order dried with crystals on it. I used red block dye and I never used so much color before. Could it be the dye that is making the crystals form? I have always had smooth tops with a cave in- now my first deeply colored one seems to have red sugar granule looking crystals on the entire top. Ok so there is 2 questions here: 1. Why is this? and 2. I am afraid to heat gun it because I don't want to destroy the wick. Should I melt and repour? If so can I just melt it on a candle warmer and pour it into a new container or should I heat it back up to a certain temp.?
  12. Wow that is a great setup! I gotta try that. Thank you everyone for the tips. My conclusion is don't leave it on overnight unless it is really just at a very low temp and it is okay to let it harden as long as you breakup the wax a bit before re-melting. Thanks again!
  13. Yeah affiliate sales seems to be the way to go. Then you have a whole army of sales people that are advertising for you and you don't have to pay them until they make you money. Seems like a no brainer and it is something I plan to do. I am learning now how to set everything up at an online class called the Internet Income Academy- it may take some time but the idea of people marketing for me, that only get paid if I do is really tempting!
  14. I just got my first inquiry also, requesting a sample before a larger purchase is made. I'm thinking, yeah right. I created a post (Store Sample Question) asking everyone what to do.
  15. Hi All- I just got an inquiry from someone and I am thinking it may be just someone looking for freebies. She doesn't even ask for wholesale prices or anything. Her address that she wants me to mail to is a home address. How can I answer this politely but verify that this is for a legit business? What should I request from her and how should I word it? I have never gotten any inquires like this yet... Hello I own an upscale gift shop here in California and after reviewing your website I am considering carrying your candle products in my store and was wondering if I could possibly request a few samples just to see what I think of these products before making a large purchase. Thank you and I look forward to doing business with you very soon.
  16. Thought I would contribute something also since I'm always just asking questions...- I was looking for a way to raise my presto pot so I could pour through the spout into the pour pot (which is ontop of the scale) so instead of a bucket to raise it, I put it flat on the counter with the spout hanging over the side and the scale and the pour pot in an open drawer and it is perfect!
  17. So I just bought a presto pot on eBay with the pour spout. My question is, is it okay to let the wax harden in it if I don't use it all and reheat it later? Or do I have to keep it warm at a certain temp to keep it liquid until the next use. If so, what temp should I keep it at? Thank you in advance!
  18. Thanks guys! You guys rock...I 'm about to post another question. Candle making should be called candle alchemy ;-) Ok so I tried all types of pour temps so I am thinking it does have something to do with the line I pour up to. With these type of containers, is it okay to pour way below (a couple of mm) the curve/shoulder line or should I be pouring above the shoulder to just where the bottom of the plastic apothecary lid ends- I guess that would just squish the wick but it looks so empty without filling it at least until just below the shoulder line.
  19. Hi Everybody, I have made over 20 tests on different days, at different temps and everything. All of my jar candles come out nice and smooth but there is always one cave in on top. Is there a word for this cave in? I don't know how to trouble shoot is. I have tried Stearic Acid, Coconut oil but nothing works! I am using cb135 and as I said I have tried all different pour temps and fo add in temps. Any input would be appreciated. Here are pix.... Closeup
  20. Thanks Everybody! Gonna give a bunch of wicks a try
  21. Thanks everybody- I do have a/c running so I will test in a non-a/c room- I also will try a new wick. Anybody know of any cotton ones with a paper core?
  22. wow that was quick for a reply :-). I have tried different sizes of the eco wicks but no other kind. ( eco 14 for my 3.5 inch 10.5oz jars) You are completely right- If I had candle nose, I wouldn't be able to smell the cold either- my flame IS eating my scents I wanted to use wicks that had a vegetable wax coating and no metal. Any suggestions? Thank you so much!
  23. Hi everybody, I am new to all of this and I can tell there is lots to learn. Anyways I have been testing and it seems the tests are endless. I have been using GB464 and CB135. I can only seem to smell the cold throw. I never can smell the hot throw but when the candle is put out and the wax begins to cool is when I can start smelling it. Does that make sense that I can't smell it while it is burning for 3 or 4 hours but as soon as it goes out I can? It is almost like the flame is sucking up the scent... Am I crazy or has anyone else experienced this?
