  1. If it were me, I'd just get out while the getting out is good. If this is how she's going to run her boutique, why would you want to be in it? Cross her off your list and go somewhere else. I'd also unfriend the friend. She's not a friend. Life is too short for that much drama.

Yup....ditto what Deb said.... I would definitely heave-ho and boot the "friends" and keep both of them totally out of your business "loop". It's obvious that your products are wonderful...people are copying you!! Time to take your business to the "dark side" as I like to call it, if you haven't already. Time to close anyone and everyone out of your business dealings....tell no one where you get your products, tear all labels off your boxes so no one can tell where you purchase from, ban anyone and everyone other than immediate family from your "work shop"...because those eyes will roam and "take in" everything you use to make your product, do not share what businesses you are going to approach to offer to sell your product in. Learn to do your own posting on Face Book (it can be done if you have the drive...no MATTER how old you are). Search for different jars, learn different and better soap recipes, expand your product line and offer better products and selections than your "friends". Find more upscale and prettier packaging and outdo them!! You can do it....... It is always good to challenge yourself anyhow to always keep doing something different...NEVER feel "comfortable" in your business.... always be striving to do your best to "stay ahead" of your competition...make a better product, package it more beautifully....just keep the end result in mind....that you want to and are offering the very BEST product out there and you will continue to beat them at their own game!! :grin2:

  2. Wow Janet, that is some BEAUTIFUL soap!!!! The colors are just perfect...love the color of the honey soap and the butterfly....WOW...you had better make more of those girl...!!! Love the design of the goat's milk bar soap! Wishing you the very BEST on your show!! You will certainly sell OUT of everything!!! :yay:

  3. I agree, but to me it's finding the right balance between realism and pleasantness. I find that some of the "best" ocean scents don't smell um, like an ocean. LOL. So whatever formula you come up with I would be happy to give it a shot as well. I plan on blending many FOs in the next couple of weeks!

:) Hee hee... you're right about the best ocean scents not smelling like an ocean...the ocean can be downright stinky at times!!

I LOVE Moonshine's idea...adding a little of the Bamboo and Dune Grass....oh this is gettin' good folks!!!! *getdown*

  4. You know....the Sea Kelp and Salty Sea Air blend is wonderful!!! BUT.....I believe the more scents you add to a candle recipe you already really like has the potential for creating the most awesome kick butt scent ever. I was thinking of trying (once I get some Tidal Wave) maybe .40 Salty Sea Air, .30 Sea Kelp, .15 Tidal Wave and .15 Cactus and Sea Salt. I swear...we have the most awesome Ocean scent in our midst and at our fingertips.... we just need to figure out what to use and how much.... :smiley2:

  5. Oh heck....I like them all !!! :smiley2: I have never found a jar I didn't like or couldn't find something to do with. All of these jars would be wonderful to use for different things. I love the 4 oz for sampling, I love the flower pot for Spring /Summer and it is so cute , the other 3, you could layer colored scents in, make layered embed candles in, make chunk candles out of or make pie/grunge candles out of them. It is alllllllll good!!!

  6. Well, I blended the Salty Sea Air (ICS) .75% and the Sea Kelp (RE) .25 (didn't have the Tidal Wave like I thought I did, but will order some next order and try adding that to this mix) Love the scent!!!:yay: Made it a turquoise color....Very clean and refreshing... can't wait to try adding the Tidal Wave to it and see what happens then....

  7. Hey Leisa,

As far as I am concerned .....you can add vanilla to just about anything and it will turn out awesome. You might try adding to a gingerbread, mulled cider, spiced cranberry , nutmeg (wonderful). Also...I am going to throw this out there....Cajun Candles has a WONDERFUL scent called Vanilla Chai that is just to DIE for!!!! I love it!!! :)

  8. How about calling it "Don't look Ethel !!" :grin2: Who can forget that infamous line in the song "The Streak" by Ray Stevens.. hee hee.... Ya know...I just might rename mine to that.....says nothing naughty, but implies everything.... if you lived back when the song came out....:wink2:

  9. Hi Dcroome,

I know you are having a very tough time right now, but hang in there sweetie.... it is good to do something busy right now and making tarts definitely is a busy thing! I got the Pink Bubblegum from The Candlemaker Store. I had sent them an email that I was looking for a bubblegum scent and they said to pick that...I had also sent them an email looking for a dupe of the Crossroads' Buttered Maple Syrup...they said that they had just gotten Buttered Maple Syrup in and I ordered that also. I LOVE the Pink Bubblegum!! Smells JUST LIKE the Bazooka Bubblegum ... a very fun scent...made me smile when I was pouring...I think that this would be an EXCELLENT scent to blend w/banana, coconut, vanilla and maybe Pink Sugar...lots of possibilities with this one !! I did not pour the Buttered Maple Syrup.....it smells wonderful and is VERY close to the Crossroad's . I had also ordered 2 mo ago the Vermont Maple Syrup from AE and it smells almost exact too .... so I have decided I am going to do a 50/50 blend....I think that blending the two will give me a wonderful kick butt candle! I have found that when you blend scents that smell a lot like each other you get an awesome scent... ie: I ordered the Pumpkin Cheesecake from BCS and Pumpkin Hollow from The Candlemaker Store they smelled alot alike but I now blend them 50/50......it is AWESOME!!! I hear ya about the hand rolling the cinnamon rolls...hee hee.. BUT I have seen pictures of the tall ones that some people have made and just LOVE the look of them...I have decided that if someone else can do that , well.... I will EVENTUALLY be just as darned good too!! I poured my jars today...tomorrow is dedicated to doing my second pours and wrestling the cinnamon rolls. :smiley2:

  10. Beautiful job!!!! Love the colors and the containers!! LOVE the stickers ......you have to seperate yourself from the "big" dogs and offer product that is unique and different...SMART thinking!! :yay:

  11. Ditto Donita and if you use liquid dye do like she said, wait a few minutes .... and just when the sides are JUST barely, and I mean barely starting to show that they are starting to solidify, touch the tip of your dye bottle to the very top edge of your mold and the liquid dye will streak down the sides..... do this around the mold ....it is a beautiful effect! Good Luck!!!:smiley2:

  12. Vicky,

That is so beautiful!!!! :yay:There aren't a whole lot of quilt makers out there anymore, it is very tedious and time consuming AND not everyone can do it (I sure can't) .... what a special TREASURE for them to receive from you!! The perfect gift as far as I am concerned!! :)

  13. Hmmm....I would go with the Women's Conference...it's inside...lots of women (who love to shop!). It will be a good time, good fellowship, good people, lots of laughter etc.. people love to shop and buy when they feel good and are happy... and the Pastor's wife would be a very important contact person who will be sending business your way... Please keep us posted....wishing you the VERY, VERY best!!!!:cheesy2:

  14. @ Puma So you won't be mixing then? I was thinking of mixing my own, and was hoping others would mix their own blends...so we can all swap and test them! But, I need some challengers.

Well rctfavr3.....let me dig around my scent closet...I have the Sea Kelp, the Salty Sea Air and I have to look to see if I have the Cucumber and Tidal Wave....the earliest I could blend would be next weekend as I have to get back to work tomorrow....but it would be fun....:) Who knows what all these great minds here might come up with? hee hee....could be pretty darned good!!
